I don’t like him, but that’s just personal from way back in the day. I am starting to come around to his “I don’t give two fucks” attitude to the ncaa. When you don’t give two shits about right being right.  I’m cool with that.

I think he’s good for college football. Not the college football we know and love, but good for the new era NFL-Lite money centric college football TV execs has made it into.

Also he says shit like “NCAA needs to do something. The do something about everything else” which I enjoy

I think the equivalency between "we know and love college football which is not the NFL-life-money centric TV game" and those who knew who Tank McNamara was is probably both near perfect, and not reflective of this blog-readership experience with Michigan fandom.  (I mean, before 2021 this blog had seen exactly one Michigan victory over OSU; I don't think the readership skews much older than that!)

With the loss of Mike Leach, Prime is some variety and entertainment this sport sorely lacks with a bunch of buttoned up robots who are happy to take their millions and tow the line.

I am a Prime fan but he isn’t taking too well to losing games. Not a bad thing, but he needs to hate losing more quietly.  It’s a learned skill.

Jack Nicklaus. Arguably the most accomplished athlete in any sport. Good loser. Disproves your meat head talk radio slogan.  Roger Federer loses with grace. As far as coaches John Wooden.

The people who act the world ends when they lose are the people who burn out constantly. Urban Meyer is a perfect example.

Most (not all) people who have any type of staying power over a long period of time have a philosophical attitude that losing is part of anything competitive.

Harbaugh takes the blame for a loss and gives the credit for a win to the team.  That’s called leadership.

Dan Campbell talks about how he loves underrated players with a chip on their shoulder and who will work harder.  That’s called inspirational

Prime says he needs better players after a loss. That’s called a loser.

That sort of attitude from HC breeds a toxic culture. Might be great for stats and winning a bunch of games, but good luck building a champion or a stable program that way. How do you *develop* talent when you throw them under the bus like this? The portal can’t solve all your problems, at some point you need to develop your own players/recruits.

Back in 1981, my 5th grade basketball team had a game against either Pewamo-Westphalia or Ovid-Elsie. I don’t remember which of the hyphenated entities we were playing, but it was one of them. For Christmas, I had just gotten a Michigan baseball hat with the stripes and wings a la the football helmets. It was my prize possession. I wore it everywhere. But you can’t wear baseball hats during basketball games, so I left it in the locker room. After the game, upon returning to the lockers, I realized my hat had been stolen. First time I was the victim of theft.

We don’t have to pick sides in everything.  Do I think he’s an ass for basically always blaming his players effort when they lose?  Yes.  But he’s not wrong either in saying that it’s complete bullshit that his players had their stuff stolen while playing a game.
