Coach Harbaugh makes an appearance in Frank Caliendo's new bit

Submitted by MGomaha on

This isn't as funny as the other impersonations, imo, because he doesn't have the voices as down as he does for Madden and Gruden, but the jokes are still pretty solid. Plus, Jim Harbaugh makes an appearance

Caliendo still gets work because, for better or worse, the rest of the sports world thinks he's funny.

I don't think I have ever seen everyone here think something was funny.   I have literally had coffee or beer coming out my nose, seen 25-50 upvotes on something that was funny, and read two or three "that's not funny" posts and seen a couple of negs to go with all the upvotes.

I am thinking that, to some, the worst "crime" on MGoBlog is to try and be funny.  To me, it's all good.  I like a bit of humor with my serious sports.

Ventrilquism.  That is the bottom of the barrel.  Who in the fuck thinks that Jeff Dunham hack is any good?  How is he not unemployed?   Being subjected to him is technically torture according to the Geneva convention.

Some of his impressions (Madden, Gruden) are a riot, others not so much. He continues to work on it, and hey, if the guy can give a few people a chuckle, what's so wrong about that? Lighten up, folks.

I'll admit that the Mad TV skit was rather funny. Though the show writers would have to get a lot of credit along with Caliendo on that one. Overall I'd say that he's good at what he does. Though just like with most comediennes, sometimes I think the routine was funny, sometimes I don't.

I kind of thought he disrespected us a bit, "get back to your precious school" It was just the way he said it I guess.  I most of the time find Caliendo pretty funny.

Shawshank Redemption narration voice was funny. His recent Twas the night before Christmas bit was pretty clever too. He's a pretty talented guy ... if it was just impersonations it would be one thing but most of the time the overall bit is creative too. This particular bit, though, is god-awful and not funny. He probably needs to back it down on the exposure on both Fox and ESPN, Gruden and Madden are completely overplayed and have jumped the shark.

Caliendo was on The Detroit Cast, a spinoff of The Drew and Mike Show, the other day. He read the childhood diary of former Drew and Mike intern and current Detroit Cast producer Eric in the voice of Morgan Freeman. I lol'd. I think Frank's impressions are good and funny at first, but he's just not that funny. Even the best ones get old. The first time I heard his Barkley impression, I laughed my ass off. One of my other favorites is when he argues with McShay in the Kiper voice. Really, once you've heard the voices, that's it. I agree on the Jeff Dunham too. People are crazy over that guy. I just don't get it.
