Chris Martin Looking at Other Schools

Submitted by TomVH on
Notre Dame soft commit, Chris Martin, has decided he's going to stay committed, but look at other schools. So far, I've heard that he will be looking at North Carolina and LSU, among others. Martin is a 5 star weakside DE, and plays for Princeton Hun, in New Jersey. The same school that Anthony LaLota came from. I'm not sure if we'll get in on his recruitment, but you'd think LaLota would be able to have some impact.

at other schools but remaining "committed"...i'd call that available. Hopefully, LaLota can help this one out. It'd be great to get an elite defensive talent. Nice work, Tom!

...play defensive end, but he also sings for a girlie rock band and is married to a woman with a kid named Apple. I say sign him up.

Tom, was there any interest in UM before he committed? If not, what makes you think there might be now? Anything other than the Lalota connection?

He committed in February, which means he probably got excited, and always liked Notre Dame, then committed. There wasn't interest before, but there wasn't a lot of time either. I think if Michigan starts showing him interest, then there's always a possibility. There's probably going to be a huge swarm to him from all the coaches, he'll like the attention, and start to think maybe he should take his time. I don't know anything else besides what I've told you, but I don't see why he wouldn't hear us out.

so Lalota being able to help us in his recruitment is slim at best. The coaches have built a repoire with the coach at The Hun during Lalota's recruitment and that could be helpful.

Some people already pointed it out (that there is no connection to LaLota, since he just recently moved from Cali), but even if he had originally been from the Hun School, might not've helped Michigan anyway. ND got a 4* from there last year too (DT Tyler Stockton).

would definitely help erase some of the 3-star racism that is so rampant around here. 3-stars are people too. (btw we're not getting him)

Two people have already made Coldplay jokes. I wish there were a blue chipper named Taylor Swift. Because there's a girl named Taylor Swift, you see. And she's attractive. So I could make a joke about thI'll just let myself out.

it also said that other coaches were on him about how Fat Charlie wouldn't be there much longer. Didn't say he thought about it much, but why mention it. He also hadn't told ND yet or been in contact with Charlie in awhile, which was suprising with how highly he is rated.

I thought "Good Time Charlie" had a rule about staying committed and taking visits? The rule is, if you take visits your not commited to ND.

I just talked to Chris, and it was a weird conversation. He said he decided to start looking, because he was thinking about some things and thought it would be a good idea. The weird part was that he said the Michigan staff has never contacted him. The only thing he's ever received from them was a questionnaire. He said he has nothing against them, he just felt since hey hadn't contacted him, he thought they weren't interested. So, who knows.
