Dantonio was hired to win and right now he is. That is where the rubber meets the road.
He didn't ask to be pedestaled and given a soft landing from the media. He is good at earning that sort of capital apparently. It helped him keep those guys from the dorm assault on the team and keep Sims' access to the football building pending his plea deal.
Stuff Rich wouldn't be able to get away with in a million years.
I don't blame Dantonio at all. The MSM is lazy and loves to create archetypes and repeat themes. He is the strict disciplinarian coaching a man tough brand of football. Rich is the "yee haw" free wheeling outsider trying to trick everyone, running a lawless program. Almost like cheesy pro wrestling story lines.
Facts don't matter. Perception will only shift closer to reality when we take back the series and Rich starts kicking around Iowa, MSU, and OSU.

He may be a douche, but he hates the whole second chance BS up at State...well anywhere. I would be surprised to see him not talk about the repeat offense, especially if he plays Saturday.
