San Antonio was a ploy. If the Raiders move, it will be to LA. The Raiders are, easily, still the most popular team in SoCal, and the LA area actually houses the majority of their fanbase. It's a natural move, the question is really whether Davis will give up equity to AEG or Roski.

Les miles mafia mentioned in the latest coaching search thread on front page that there was/is some back pedaling happening on Rivals....any info on what that's about?

Just sounds like Balas is holding firm on 50/50 he comes despite all of the "it's happening for sure" that we were getting yesterday.

Henson is feeling a silence descend from his sources which doesn't surprise because nobody wants to be seen as letting the cat out of the bag and ruining the deal.

My summary anyway. Not a substantive shift either way in my opinion.

Good night.

Spanos likes San Diego and wants to stay there, but he needs a stadium. However, if he can't get that done, he is willing to move to LA. Same thing with Davis, although he isn't as deeply attached to Oakland as Spanos is to SD. Davis would love to piggyback to LA and would probably jump at the chance right now if given. At this point, I think that's doubtful, because that's probably dependent on if Kroenke is willing to share. Kroenke has shown no interest in sharing a stadium. He has the land and money to build it himself. The NFL wants too much control(league owned stadium shared by two teams) in the process and is dictating where, who and when, effectively holding everyone hostage. We'll see what happens next year.

Rams will eventually play at Hollywood Park, Raiders probably play at second site Downtown by Dodgers Stadium or further East. Raiders and Rams already have built in fan bases. That said, money talks, and other stadium deals could pop up...but your franchise will double in value with a simple move to LA.

Nobody in LA expected any team to move in 2015. The Raiders could move to LA the following year. And Raiders staying up North actually means Harbaugh would not have to move his family, so that actually would be a check in the positive column for the Raiders.

The Raiders are the worst franchise in the NFL. Worse than the Browns. Worse than the Bills.

I get the pull of being in the NFL and wanting a Super Bowl. I don't get the idea he'd want to try it in Oakland. A coach with real control in Buffalo or Jacksonville could make something happen. The Raiders are like Michigan the last few years. They need an ownership change and to remove a bunch of top staffers. Especially in the NFL, it's not about the head coach. It's about drafting, organization, and having a top QB. Oakland has nothing going for it except a great location.

It's amazing Buffalo has held onto their team. Small, rapidly decaying rust belt city in vacant western New York state. Nowhere town in the middle of nowhere.

Not sure how they've done it when larger markets like LA, Baltimore, Cleveland (and possibly soon to be St Louis & Oakland) have all lost their teams. Not sure if it has anything to do with them having one of the most reliable fanbases in the league. They haven't made the playoffs in years and still sell a lot of tickets for such a small metro

But FWIW, there are a few million in the Buffalo area. About a million for Buffalo and Rochester each, plus a few hundred thousand just over the border in Canada - though I doubt many of them care about the Bills

The team was recently sold to Terry Pegula. Pegula also owns the Sabres and gave PSU $100 million to start up their hockey program. He also spent $170 million on the HarborCenter in Buffalo. I'm sure he'll find a way to build a new stadium and keep them there.

How they do it is what else is there in Buffalo (it's like Nebraska football)?  In LA, who gives a crap about the NFL -- USC and UCLA have their fanbases and between all the other things to do in SoCal, nobody really cares about the NFL.

The NFL wants LA (becuase it's the 2nd biggest TV market in the country) more than LA needs the NFL.  On Pacific time, one can roll out of bed, catch an early game, and then hit the beach.
