CC: Joe Lombardi

Submitted by rainingmaize on

May or may not have been drinking.

Pros:

-Probably will be available

-Michigan will lead the nation in field goal attempts

-Gets to tell recruits he coached Drew Brees that one time

-I heard he's related to Vince Lombardi

-Will help fans get caught up on sleep.

Cons:

-Is Joe Lombardi

-His inclusion in a CC thread will probably cause me to get downvoted

To be honest, we haven't had many CC threads which highlighted pro coordinators, but I can say that this one is going in a slightly different direction in terms of the voting than the Teryl Austin thread from a few weeks ago. Having been tuned into today's Lions game since about 13:30 in the 1st quarter, it is rather understandable, of course.

I was very disappointed when I saw that spread shotgun formation with NO running back in the back field, when we had the ball at New England’s three yard line.

I said to myself. Ugh! Here we go with this bull!

I hate seeing that formation when the Lions are that CLOSE to the goal line. I know it’s a sure indication of how bad our running game can be at times. Though the empty back field means the defense really doesn’t have to fear the run threat, unless the team has a running QB.

Though Matthew seldom runs from the shotgun. You still have to keep the defense honest when you’re that close to goal line. The running back will make D guys hesitate, even if it's just for a split moment.

New England did a spread shotgun from inside our five on the very next possession. Though they kept Blount in the back field and he ran it right into the end zone, while our defense was spread out. We’ve lost to two very good teams, but it’s the way the offense looked during those loses is what makes people somewhat concerned.
