I’m just gonna leave this story from last week here (about Tucker’s brilliant coaching turning around the kicking game):

Have a work colleague whose son transferred to MSU last year in hopes of winning the kicking spot. He worked out with Jason Hanson while in HS and was pretty good on kickoffs and has range from 50. After winning the starting kicking job at a state university in Detroit as a freshman and a cancelled ‘20 season he hoped to get his shot at MSU.
Of course the incumbent last season seemed to have been kicking for MSU for 12 years so ‘21 wouldn’t be his year. This off season he tried out and the coaching staff was impressed and in touch intimating he’d get on the team. Then in August Ben Patton transfers from Auburn and takes the job.
BTW Patton was a pathetic 1/3 today with his 1 FG good from 19. He blew the 22 yd attempt at the end of reg. To his credit he was 4/4 on XPs.
one example where Tucker and his transfer portal bites him in the ass. He had a kid in his back yard that could hit that game winner with his eyes closed.

Plus it was a home game for sparty. How good is Mel Tucker now? It seems like an alternative universe always hearing how great Mel has been as a HC and how good his program is.
