With this team anything can surprise me. My first post on this site was me complaining about getting a crappy seed in the Lunardi's first bracket (NCAA), all I can say now is what a jackass..

I would argue the opposite. I haven't noticed much difference playing home or on the road. Playing at MSU and at IU should have been blowouts but they came down to the wire. Illinois was another close road loss. Home with MSU and Iowa ended in routs. With that said this team can beat anyone in the big ten when they are hot

So... about Maryland not carrying their weight in the B1G.... yep...

Football team held their own, and their basketball team is really good this year.

Delaney you mad genius you...

Maryland was always a solid add, people just didn't like adding teams.  They are a pretty well regarded large research institution that also happens to be in the 4th largest metro area in the country.  They are a great basketball school historically and had the 3 most wins of any acc team behind only duke and unc.  Football team actually has a national championship and the state puts out good talent, they've been to more bcs bowls (1) than most of the big ten.  They also already have 3 big ten championships out of a possible 9 so far and probably have the best baseball team and mens and womens lax teams in the conference.  If you were going to expand Maryland always made sense, it was just people being upset with expanding.

Yes, and if we win out we'd be 10-8 in the B1G and have 17 wins going into the B1G tourny. Outside, but with momentum going into selection Sunday. Not the worst scenario for sneaking into the NCAA's.

We would have 16 wins, d 2 teams don't count.  If we win out we might have a chance at an at large if we make it to the championship game with a win over wisconsin on the way but even that would be sweating it out.

Even though Maryland is the game I am - relatively speaking - the least confident about among the remaining games, if "first half Michigan" from Sunday shows up and gives Maryland a good fight for most of the game, it could at least be close if not a win (Massey estimates this one at 21% for us, so likely not a win). I do have this one down as an "L" admittedly on my sheet, but they've played some good teams close enough all the while.

It is senior night and the only team MD has only lost at home to UVA this year when dez wells was injured and it was still a close game.  Maryland is a bad matchup for us, gaurds who drive well and an athletic good big 4.

No I mean Jake Layman.  The 6-8 guy who shoots 50% from 2 and 40% from 3 and average s 6.6 rebounds a game while also adding over an assist a game.  The one who put up 23 points the last time he faced off againt brandon dawson.  Who is going to guard hiim?  He has 2 inches and more lateral quickness than Irvin. Not to mention we will have to put Spike on melo trimble, probably the third best guy at getting into the lane in the big ten because there is no way he could deal with the physicality of dez wells.  Our only hope is to play a crazy packed in zone and pray they don't hit their 3's.

Spike is playing the best basketball of his life the past few games, he is keeping them competitive and one can make an argument that he is playing better than Walton ever did. Irvin has improved the last few games. Chatman might have finally got his confidence back- he had a couple 5 star quality plays against OSU.

I think we keep it close, and then get homered with bad calls down the stretch.
