That's not going to be looked upon positively by his teammates.

Idc for the celebrations or the post-game presser stuff either, but you gotta go all out for that ball when the game is on the line.

It's not like the Panthers were down 30 all game. Although 6 points felt like 30 at times with Vonn Miller n co rushing after Cam.

Did he have a worse game than Peyton Manning?

He faced a harder pass rush and gave up the ball when it was knocked loose. Would you have expected Tom Brady to do the same thing people are criticizing Cam for? No, I don't think so. Please. There were 4 minutes left in the game at the point of that fumble. If he saves the posession at what point do they convert?

....quit on his team.  He said his leg was in an awkward position, but what about the 2-3 steps he took before his leg got in that awkward position?  What was he trying to do? It almost looks like he was gonna try to kick the ball towards the sideline but then decided not to, or maybe he thought it would take a candy hop up into his arms?  From the moment he fumbled it he was tentative which shows that he was more worried about himself than the team.

Tom Brady would've dove after that ball. Manning would have too. Hell even Russell Wilson if we're looking at Newton's peers.

Did you not see the AFC Championship games when their old asses were running for their lives getting their respective teams first downs?

Brady even led his team in rushing in the divisional and championship games.

"Did he have a worse game than Peyton Manning?"

Why is this relevant? Going into this game did anyone expect Manning to go out and light it up for 400 yards? No he needed to go out and give the defense a chance to win the game. Once they got the 10 point lead it was reel it in and don't do anything stupid.

Going into this game the story was Cam vs the Denver defense. The Denver defense won. Going into this game it was "can Peyton not lose the game for them"? He didn't lose the game for them.

So I would say yes he did have a worse game than Peyton considering the expectations. Is that entirely fair? No not really but the Pathers needed Cam to win it for them. Instead he turned the ball over three times basically handing the Broncos 15 points.

"Please. There were 4 minutes left in the game at the point of that fumble. If he saves the posession at what point do they convert?"

4 minuites left in a 6 point game. No they likely don't convert the 4th down. They punt and let the defense get them the ball back.

Carolina's defense in that game was statistically better than Denvers. The 4 drives that the Denver offense scored on (so not including the scoop and score) totaled 24 plays for 110 yards. This wasn't the Carolina defense giving up the game. It was Cam being unable to protect the ball.

You see that 25% drop there at the end of 4th? That was the TD on the 4 yard drive after the Cam Newton fumble.

FYI, I was just as critical of Brady after the AFC championship game. The Pats needed Brady to win them that game because the were outclassed defensively and in the running game. He couldn't pull it off because he couldn't protect the ball and those turnovers lead directly to points for Denver.

I hate these stupid claims of racism as soon as anyone disagrees with a minority. Guess what? I like or am neutral to 98% of the players in the NFL. I guess I missed the memo when they decided the league would be 98% white. I dislike Newton because he's an idiot that skirted sanctions at Auburn. Not because he is black. Being the boy who cried racist really sucks.
True racism is out there and it is shitty. And doing something completely stupid like claiming I would give Cosby the benefit of the doubt if he were white detracts from the entire argument. Don't be that guy.

He was the only reason the team still had a chance.  His O-line sucked, Jonathan Stewart was hurt and his WR corps was never great this season outside of Greg Olson.

People dislike Cam because he showboats while calling it "having fun".  People like Russell Wilson because he can win with good sportsmanship.  One acts like an ass, the other acts with class.  And skin color has nothing to do with it.

And that's such bullshit to throw Brady in this.  Damn near everyone outside of Boston or without a pair of maize and blue clothing hates him.  Why?  Because even though he wins, people think him and the Patriots cheat.  Again, because of a perception that he's not playing the game the right way.

Oh..me and Cam Newton share the same skin color and I don't like his act.  His buffonery and brooding personality when things aren't going well makes me appreciate Megatron and Barry Sanders even more.

For me its how level the player is. Russel Wilson approaches everything very workman-like. He is calm and even keel win or lose.

Here is Wilson at arguable his lowest point (something like 30 minutes after the super bowl INT last year).

Clearly he is bummed out but he does what you are supposed to do. What you learn about sportsmanship from the time you are 5 years old. You compliment the other guy. You don't direct any blame unless its at yourself. You stand up and be the leader your team needs you to be when they need it the most.

come on, don't act like he's the first one to bring up race with Cam Newton. That's all I've heard about the last two weeks... it's this year's deflategate.... I hate the unnecessary race-card as much if not more than the next guy, trust me.... And 99% of people's hate for him has nothing to do with race IMO. just don't act like he pulled race out of thin air on this one... We've been beat over the head with it nonstop for days and days

This guy is clueless in terms of understanding how to endear himself to others. Even if Cam didn't think it was worth it, he should never ADMIT to it. Wonder how his veteran teammates feel about coming this close and having their MVP not leave it all on the field.

just as Patriot players feel the same about Tom Brady. Can we get over the fact that Cam Newton didn't fall on a loose ball that Brady or Manning wouldn't have sacrificed themselves to dive on or get under the same circumstances. Seriously, the Panthers were outplayed and lost that game as a team which was outperformed in all phases by the Broncos. In fact, the least successful contributing factor to the Bronco victory was the work of the offense and Peyton Manning's performance which was less than effective and would have been the downfall of the team if the defense hadn't been so dominant.
