Cam Chambers Top 5, Announcing Friday

Submitted by Tate on

2016 WR Cam Chambers released his Top 5 today, in... semi-alphabetical order. He plans to make his decision Friday. Coming off the BBQ and him making his decision so soon looks good for us.

EDIT: His tweet is in the first post below. I guess embedding tweets with emojis messes things up a bit.

I am always excited for guys who choose M. However, the super early commitments have made me skeptical of late, especially out of state prospects. Hope he goes Blue though.

And now, Michigan is officially OUT of the George Campbell sweepstakes.  He just announced his top-10, and Michigan is not on the list.  Amazing how a school can go from having a commitment to not even being one of 10 schools considered.  Don't try to make sense of it.  Kids are still kids.

He did but has canceled it, per an ND recruiting writer:

ESPN post confirms that he'll take official visits to the final five, with his Michigan visit scheduled for October 10 (PSU weekend).

Win some damn games! That's it! Michigan is in on all these top guys, but a lot of times they can't close because other schools performance has been better. Imagine what happens if Michigan has a great season.

KLS is a building block type of prospect. Match him with Peppers in the secondary and it could be like if Michigan had gotten Hand. I know it's a pipe dream but if KLS is blown away by his official and Iman Marshall is there that day too then who knows. Probably no chance he gets away from USC or UCLA but there is a reason Michigan has remained in the game for Marshall. Never hurts getting kids from Cali either!

Chambers is an important prospect because NJ is in big ten territory now and it is a state that has produced many top talents in the last couple cycles. If Michigan can continue to pull top talent from there, then that is a very good thing! Also, continuing to build WR depth, good skill players, is always good

Uh, what? Not sure if I get what you're saying here.  Hand was a DL. What do Peppers and this kid have to do with Hand or DLs at all?

And I don't want to argue that winning games won't help recruiting, but we seem to have been doing fine anyhow.  But I agree, lets win some damn games.

That's what Peppers was selling to Hand when he was recruiting him. When you have both a strong pass rush and strong coverage on the same defense then that can be a dominant. I'm not really saying anything crazy. A good pass rush makes coverage easier. Michigan missed out on Hand so I was saying that KLS can soften the blow of that. The only reason I brought up Hand was because he was a top DL prospect and Michigan didn't get him and they have a good shot at KLS.

"A building block type of prospect" is a player who you build a defense around. KLS is an awesome pass rusher who compares to Anthony Barr, as according to UCLA coaches. He needs to work on run stopping but he has starter pass rushing skills as a senior in high school. I think he is one of those type of players who will play a big part of Michigan's defense if he was to end up there.

I agree that we have been doing very well with the talent that has been brought in but my point about recruiting was that with winning games you hold onto players like George Campbell and Damien Harris. Trust me I am pumped about Michigan, I just want the performance to match the unbelievable resources that Michigan has to offer!
