I know that I am not a football coach, but with two openings why are they not looking to bring on Bush Sr?  Seems like he could recruit, knows the position, etc.  Such a strange turn of events to where we were going into November of 2016

1. Way to lose all credibility in your post when you call Devin Bush Sr. a Hall of Famer. Facts are important dude.

2. Maybe after several years DBS has decided he wants to do something new or JH has evaluated that hes not good enough to be a full-time coach.

3. We don't know all of the details of anything so maybe stop getting in a tizzy about it and let it play out.

The beauty of that comment is that anyone who knows anything about the court can mentally compile his or her own list of clowns, and the lists will be all over the place based on what the compiler thinks of judicial philosophies—or maybe based on what he or she has heard on cable news, depending on the channel.

Sam Webb is also reporting Michigan is close to hiring Bob Shoop. Bob Shoop is basically the Jim McElwain of defensive coaches. Lorenz posted he is NOT considered a recruiter. In fact his reputation in that area is quite poor. He also wants to be HC or DC again, so this hire makes absolutely no sense on a number of levels. Jim Harbaugh proves once again the guy just doesn't fucking get it. Meanwhile OSU is going to hire Kerry Coombs who is a stud recruiter to be their co-DC/DB coach. The gap is only going to get bigger because Jim Harbaugh doesn't understand how important recruiting is. This hire will rank right up there with Tim Drevno, Pep Hamilton, Jim McElwain, and Greg Jackson as guys who contribute absolutely zilch to recruiting, and we have enough of those guys on staff already. What a sad and disappointing tenure he has had. Hope everyone is prepared for another class outside the top 10 and a 3 loss season that end with OSU kicking the living shit out of us (again).

Read UMBig's diary (linked on the front page).

Then think about if Michigan will:

1) allow kids to "not play school"?

2) admit kids with questionable morality?

3) allow kids to only take cyber classes?

4) pay kids/ coaches/ parents (and not one off coaching opportunities)?

Then why would a killer recruiter (who uses any/ all of those tactics) want to come to Michigan? How happy would that guy be? What about the other coaches?

His diary is a bunch of bullshit. Anyone who has followed UM football recruiting since Moeller knows top 5 classes were the norm for pretty much the entire 90's and early 2000's. It wasn't until the later Carr years and Rich Rod era that it became a problem, and even then Hoke was able to sign two top 5 classes and for a long time had the #1 class in the country in 2014 before the rash of decommits.

Furthermore when UM hoards all of their football players into general studies and admits kids like Marquis Slocum and Mario Manningham who were barely qualifiers I don't want to hear shit about academics.

If you're mad other schools are paying players then either lead the charge to legalize it or get on board and play by the same rules because there is nothing virtuous in not paying college athletes for their labor.

And even if everything you were saying is true (which it isn't) the solution isn't to hire ANOTHER shit ass recruiter. The solution is to hire the best recruiters in the country, build the best facilities, hire the best support staff, and put on the best on campus visits in the country. Michigan. If you listen to Allen Trieu and Steve Wiltfong podcast yesterday you would know UM needs MAJOR help in their recruiting department and aren't maximizing their resources.

So go ahead and bitch at me if it will make you feel better about our lord and saviour Harbaugh falling way short of expectations because the guy won't invest the time and resources into getting the best players here. Get ready for another 3 loss season everyone.

"Anyone who has followed UM football recruiting since Moeller knows top 5 classes were the norm for pretty much the entire 90's and early 2000's."

Why do you think that this is the 90s and early 2000s? College football has changed buddy.

"Get ready for another 3 loss season everyone."

Damn, how will I survive?

Guy who knows nothing about recruiting other than pays for 247 subscription tells guy who’s worked in recruiting/talent evaluation that he’s full of shit. Good stuff. Why don’t you create a new username to hide behind for awhile?

Yeah what do Steve Wiltfong and Allen Trieu know about recruiting when they say UM's recruiting department is disorganized and they don't have enough coaches who are dogs on the recruiting trail right? Let's just take some bozo's word for it because he wrote a blog. You idiots actually think coaching up 3 stars is the key to beating OSU instead of signing difference makers like Chase Young, Justin Fields, JK Dobbins, and Jeff Okudah. This board is a trip I love it. How many more L's to OSU before you morons jump off the Harbaugh bandwagon? Like would 0-10 get you to stop?

Yeah, it's funny seeing a bunch of people complain about the WRs underperforming and assuming it's all on Patterson when they underperformed before McElwain arrived, were really good the year he was at UM, then regressed when he left.  Oh, and CMU went from 1-11 to 8-6 in year one.  But this place hasn't meant a dumb meme they won't run into the ground, so because Brian et al. found it funny a guy didn't find humor in someone saying he fucked a shark he must be bad at his job.

I don't honestly know how good Shoop is as a recruiter but in his first year at Miss St. they had the nation's #1 defense per S&P+.  I don't know what happened this year with Miss St (seems like a lot), but he was a good DC at PSU (kept those early Franklin teams alive when they were gawd awful on offense) as well.

Bob Shoop is an elite DC who has coached with Brown on multiple occasions. Camp was his understudy at BC and Shoop was his GA at Yale and his DB coach at UMass. I'm starting to wonder if Brown is going to retire soon and there's a succession plan. He's getting up there.

I don't give a flying fuck if he's the second coming of Vince Lombardi. The guy can't recruit and Michigan just lost its two best recruiters. Steve Wiltfong and Allen Trieu just gone done saying UM's recruiting department is a disorganized mess and the assistants have to do all the heavy lifting and this is how Harbaugh replaces these guys? Holy shit you idiots are delusional if you think this is a good idea.

Well Shoop came to the school I used to coach at when he was at PSU and was very impressive.

The kid he was recruiting did not go to PSU but really liked Shoop. So maybe Shoop isn’t a rotten recruiter like you think he is.

Is he elite? No. But let’s not pretend he’d just sit on his ass all offseason.

I do agree that at least one of these open spots needs to be filled with an ace recruiter.
