BTN introducing new College Gameday style show
This caught my attention. They need to do something new. I hope it works out.
Meh. Something about big ten people talking about the big ten bores me. I'd rather hear from outsiders talk about Michigan and the big ten. I also prefer seeing what's going on with the rest of the football world.

agree about too much conflict of interest. This is why i turn out when eSECpn blathers on about the SEC. This is also a reason i wish the arkansas game wasn't cancelled. It would've created interest and convo about us from other regions
also agree that i'd rather hear about or see an extra gameday at say ucla/a&m than freaking purdue/indiana
"This is also a reason i wish the arkansas game wasn't cancelled. It would've created interest and convo about us from other regions."
Yes. Because no one is talking about Michigan football at all!
From other conferences, not nearly as much as when we're on the schedule. This whole offseason, it seems to just be worthless shots over satellite camps between teams that never play. Unless of course Harbaugh and Stoops are both at the helm in 10 years and we don't cancel that for ND too
It will be nice though, when I want a little more than the 12 seconds GameDay can spare on Iowa-Pitt (last year) or Minnesota-Oregon State
Can never get enough of Minnesota-Oregon St that's for damn sure
Now this is a good idea.
If done right...
But with BTN, how can you have a PEnis / PeniS / Penis / PeNis sign? I guess it will have to be Butt / ButT / Nice Butt
interesting, but i don't really go into the "conference pride" thing just because of a network, and i'm skeptical they can fill 90 mins on matchups espn's version didn't already cover. There's just not a lot worth talking about with an impending 30 point blowout
I suppose it's possible they could add to the more intriguing or mid-card matchups though
They fill 60 minutes on the post game show. They should be able to do the same for a pre-game show.
I can see the show filmed in the studio, but if they try to bring a live stage to stadium it will fail.
yeah but postgame you have the use of actual highlights that haven't been seen over and over for a week
you're right about the live show. I almost want them to try so i can laugh as hard as when i saw the hockey tournament attendance
But I'm a little bored with the btn lineup, i hope they infuse some new faces into their group of commentators
that I've never heard of from teams that are consistently at the bottom of the big ten on it.
Are they going to the best B1G game or the game they're broadcasting?
There's a big difference between Michigan and Florida in Dallas or OSU/Texas or MSU/Oregon versus a random Rutgers/Buffalo early season matchup.
This could be good (even though I'll still watch Gameday) or this could be stupid as hell.
And what do they do when ESPN goes to a B1G campus for say Michigan/MSU or Michigan/OSU?
So many questions...
I think the first game they're broadcasting is MSU/ Wisconsin. Shows are 90 mins.
My guess is that they'll set up their studio near a different part of the stadium. It's like the CFP where they had a location and ESPN had their own location.
And to answer his other question...
If the goal is to drive up TV viewership and not just to have a bunch of people stand around the studio to stare into the soul of Gerry DiNardo, they'd be smart to be at the big game of the day in the conference, regardless of which network airs the game. I'm pretty sure they'd get more eyeballs for the UM/OSU pre-game than they would for MSU/PSU.
If went to the location of the biggest game in conference and Game Day was there as well, you are not going to have the numbers in the crowd for the BTN show
I bet they would get bigger crowds than if gameday wasn't there. Gameday draws massive crowds, the people that get there at 7-8am and are 100rows deep might decide to go to Btn instead.
I bet they'll never show OOC because the whole point of the show is to promote itself and the conference, unlike the real Gameday which will at least pay lip service to games they aren't broadcasting. This is the problem with conference owned networks. People think the partnership between espn and SEC is a conflict. Well, this will be really bad in that regard
1. Why run from 9:30-11:00AM? One of the things I like about Gameday is going directly from the pregame show to kickoff.
Unfortunately, I'd still watch Gameday unless their show is in Ann Arbor. I am not waking up in the morning to watch five minutes about the Illinois-Purdue tilt.
They are probably referring to 9:30am - 11:00am in the central time zone.
That's one of the things that used to trip me up on mgoblue.com. They were, maybe still are, famous for displaying with the local timezone of where a sporting event was to be held.
Cuz people would probably switch to Gameday anyways.
It doesn't appear Howard G is part of the show.
3/10
The normal pre game and post game coverage was horrible. Why is this show going to be any better? Stanley Jackson, Denardo, mason - just awful awful. Only thing worse may be Calloway and Kanell. This new idea should suck. Cheers.
Their normal pregame show was dull and now it'll probably be slightly less dull except now it'll be in front of 50 bored fans live from West Lafayette.
It's just not the same when you have Glen Mason opening a show with "You are looking live at Mustard's Last Stand in Evanston, Illinois.....which is a bit of a shame as the Northwestern-Illinois game is actually down in Champaign."
However, I will give it a shot out of fairness.
...as long as they keep Gerry DiNardo and Howard Griffith and Glen Mason off the show, and replace them with Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso, and then air the show on ESPN so that people will actually watch it.
You mean you don't prefer Jay Leman and former mediocre Buckeye quarterback Stanley Jackson?
It's actually just "J" Leman. Seriously.
That pick-six in 1997 was stuff of legends.
This is nothing more than them trying to compete against Joe Tess(best in the business)/Finebaum and the rest of that SEC gameday crew. Delaney and BTN just wants to show that the tailgates in our conference are just as lively and passionate as those down south. Doubt the ratings are going to drastically change but I can't blame them for trying.

I hope Tess takes Nessler's spot as the #2 prime time PBP. In all honesty he is far better than Fowler.
Oh wow, I could not disagree more. I like Fowler very much, always have. d'frint strokes.
well let's hope they don't ever go to maryland then, unless they hire some actors ala north korea in the world cup
Wrong cast to pull this off. DiNardo is not that good.

Revsine just doesn't do it for most. DiNardo is like able, but not what draws in fans. Griffith, the best of the bunch, won't be on show. I'd prefer an entirely new cast, with some pizazz.

that does every highlight using the same Simpson's quote about outstanding achievement in the field of excellence?
Copying a successful formula should work.
Revsin is not terrible.
I like Pizzo better- less annoying
Dinardo is like a calmer smarter Corso

SEC network is better than BiG net work.
I don't care about sec but still better programming
Seems most of BiG shows are rerun football games

Will they do a B1G Treasure Hunter segment every show?
As I have been watching that since the 90's. BTN is good in season for football & basketball season.
If they do it right...I might actually watch a few segments when ESPN is slurping the SEC nonstop for 30-45 minutes.
SBo: Belated sorry to hear about your dog. Lost one of mine earlier this year, Isabel (Izzie). She was 16, we rescued her when she was 6 so we got a good decade with her.
Just because this Gameday will be at B1G games and B1G network doesn't mean they have to talk about nothing but B1G, I'd think they may talk about other marquee matchups just without fellatiating the SEC.
