My thoughts were when they got the commitment of the guy from Fl. they had plans to bring in 2 QB's anyway. Not that he would be the only guy they would recruit and take. Seems like they were in a good spot with McIntyre from TN, Montgomery from OH., Longstreet and Bear (both) from CA.

Another Mc at Michigan would be super but I think you could realistically get Montgomery, a kid from Findley, OH, which is really close and who was snubbed by OSU and might have something to prove. Ohio kids who go to UM tend to do well here.

And the 1 percent laughs while the have nots squabble about being grateful to have a mortgage.  And I believe in capitalism full stop.  I definitely feel bad for people wishing they had a mortgage.  Original Point feels sustained…don’t feel bad for millionaires.

Guy has already made more money as a 17-18 year old by booster money than many will see in a lifetime.  Literally 40 years of work for most people. Not because of intellect or problem solving or contributing to societal good.  Because of ability to throw a rotund ball.  What a life changing skill!!

Don't worry about his luck.

Also half of similar guys will be in the portal in 2 years getting another phat check.  Don't need luck.  Wish luck to single mom with deadbeat dad working 3 jobs. Wish luck to kids with cancer. Wish luck to those in war zones their governmental leaders put them in. Wish luck to dogs about to be put down in shelters.

You don't need to not wish them luck either.

Why this hostility here? Michigan has made a choice in these early days of NIL to not engage in pay for play. With all the BS they're dealing with over ridiculous allegations of violations, doesn't that seem wise?

And aside from any remuneration Underwood may receive in advance of enrollment (again, in violation of ncaa rules), their QB just won the Heisman, their 2nd QB to win it in 5 years. It's a sound football decision as well...

Would love to have him but more interested in guys that will buy-in and contribute to the culture that has been built since 2021. That is something that becomes a lasting advantage, especially when facing adversity, and can’t be replicated easily. We are more than the sum of our parts, which other teams like TAMU and LSU are not despite their supposed talent advantage.

Plus, now that Carter Smith has been crowned Florida‘s Gatorade POY, I have more confidence that he will be the real deal. With due respect to Underwood, the competition in Michigan isn’t that good and we have fallen head over heals for the local hero several times because they are locally hyped (i.e. Drew Henson, Shane Morris) and not necessarily because their recruiting rankings are validated against good competition. Underwood may be that good but Smith doesn’t seem like a big step down if any.

Henson was a STUD!!! He was just naive about listening to Steinbrenner, he should have called his bluff.

If Henson hadn't gotten hurt before the 2000 season, we would have beaten UCLA, a game I attended and that season would have been way more special.

In 2001, had Henson stayed, we would have won every game we lost in the regular season, especially the OSU game at home, Tressel got lucky he played against a younger Navarre in his first year as coach.

@Navy Wolverine Unsure if you were replying to me, but I was combining my reply to Jacques about Belleville kids that went to Michigan, and how Michigan hasn't landed any Belleville kid other than Seldon (until Beasley, tbd) and mentioning to you that Marshall is a mid 3 star on the composite and high three star on 247.

Will people stop with this?!! Michigan was interested in him so the staff obviously thought he’d fit the culture. Michigan doesn’t pay recruits and it’s an incredibly stupid way to operate. Michigan doesn’t get JJ or Donovan in the era of NIL. It’s going to get much harder without adapting.

Really? How did Henson‘s career work out when he joined the Cowboys and when did Henson win a major bowl game against one of the preeminent programs by leading a comeback and winning in OT? Oh yeah, and by the way Henson also went for the bag if you consider Yankees contract in today’s context. Nothing wrong with that. Heck, if someone dangled $22mm in front of me to quit football and take baseball I would too. But that invalidates any argument that Henson could have transformed into a world-beater QB because he never gave himself the opportunity. Just about anything else you could say about Henson became a hypothetical.

Brady went 20-5 with an Orange Bowl OT victory over an at-the-time 10-1 Bama team. We all know what he did later.

I’m not dunking on Henson for not being Brady. I saw him play and read the press clippings. He was athletic with a big arm but not particularly accurate. Those are raw attributes that don’t necessarily translate to being the all-world QB that a #1 ranking implies and the local press made him out to be a savior simply because he was everybody’s hometown kid. We actually had The Guy and didn’t give him the support or the kind of offense to bring home more. A missed opportunity.

The fact is if Henson was truly the #1 recruit, and I know that if he was for some recruiting services, then he did not live up to his billing. I believe that he was a good QB recruit that nonetheless was overrated and that the fanbase got itself in a tizzy for because he was from Brighton rather than objectively evaluating and comparing him to other prospects.

Bet he won't sign with LSU. Raiola went from OSU to Georgia to Nebraska, and I'm sure all the times he committed were with huge NIL deals. Can see LSU only get 6 wins next year too, so I'm sure the decommitment talk will be huge. On the flip side, the same would go for us if he committed. Our schedule is ruthless, and if we lose JJ(and JH), it could be a tough year.

Big surprise, go get paid young fella....we'll be fine.

Jadyn Davis has been looking great and Carter Smith looks like a stud in the making.

I'm not heartbroken about this one.
