Brandon Watson absorbed cheap shot in front of ref, no call

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Doesn't surprise me one iota by who it was by.

The slime buckets must pay. Because more and more is coming out showing that the fix was in.

People called me a whiner for calling out the terrible officiating last year across all sports. Ever since Harbaugh was hired, we have been targeted by this conference.

Maybe it's time we fight back and throw our weight around before this happens again.

Harbaugh doesn't put up with the BULLSHIT. And he's targeted because of that. You are ignorant if you deny that there is no pattern of there being terribly one-sided officiating in our games since he has taken over.

You can hear the whistle blow right after that.  While it looks bad, it was still a live ball scenario and Watson was fair game.  The play is no different than a QB or punter getting blown up on a return when they aren't paying attention.

While there are things to complain about with the refs this game, this wasn't one of them.

I agree that the whistle hadn't been blown yet and. in a sense, he was a fair target in a live-ball scenario and Watson should've kept his guard up.  Because of that I could understand not throwing a flag.  But, it was also away from the play and totally unnecessary.  Very easily could've been flagged for unnecessary roughness. I think common sense dictates: call the penalty.  It was the kind of play that this crew overlooked all day and to the detriment of the game (and their own careers).

but it IS a penalty to pick off players from the pile before the whistle blows (no this isn't that, but an example of where the whistle doesn't matter). Also, why is he blocking what was now an offensive player? If he thought the play was still ongoing, don't you think he would be trying to tackle Peppers and not take out a guy standing next to the guy being tackled? It is targeting a defenseless player.

As I remember #54 smacked him in the helmet just after the clip you have - not all that bad but usually called. Agree that the refs are being immature dicks to JH... they don't like their mistakes openly exposed... the penalty for flipping his play chart was the biggest joke of all.

it was high, and very close to blind side.  On reply it looked like Glasgow was just able to see it coming at the last millisecond due to turning.  I was upset because it was borderline cheap regardless on a guy trailing the play and not getting there, but not surprised at the no-call live.

The cheapshot by Weber made me jump out of my seat with disgust.  Not only was it against a defenseless player, it was 100% from behind.

Jesus farting clambakes.  Before I saw that I figured the ref ranting (mine own included) was 65% salty righteous indignation because we lost and 35% legit gripes - but can you honestly tell me that if the uniforms had been switched there'd have been no flag thrown?

so I'll summarize

Offense:

  • Wilton mostly good. Sometimes terrible
  • Run game terrible
  • So WTF was the point of the Pepcat this whole time?

Defense:

  • Don Brown earned his paycheck by thoroughly owning Urban
  • Defense got gassed late

Penalties killed us. Refs -1000
