I may be wrong, but I don’t think anythings broken. Watch the replay. Notice how we puts weight on BOTH arms when getting up from the field. And then how he’s using BOTH hands to remove his own helmet.
His initial reaction seems like it’s catastrophic but I’m betting a separated shoulder and nothing more. And not a severe one at that.

I am not minimizing the difficult job that the QB has to do.  My take was that he saw the pressure coming and it was a no-win situation.  Throwing the ball away was an option.  If it ends up being a penalty so be it.

BTW, I never once in my life complained about a Michigan QB throwing the ball away when he's under duress.  At this level it's also about surviving to the next play.  Plenty of bad things can happen trying to extend a play, especially for a guy that doesn't run real well.

And BTW, name calling is not a good look no matter the time or place.  You will get your lunch handed to you if you pull that on M game day threads.  My advice to you, take it or leave it.

LOL quite an overreaction you received there for a pretty fair comment. The protection was deteriorating quickly on that play, and Peters tried to buy more time by moving outside the pocket which resulted in the injury. Observers obviously have the advantage of camera angles, and those plays on the field happen in split seconds.. but the correct decision there was probably to get rid of the ball two beats earlier. That might come off as arm chair quarterbacking, but there's a reason quarterbacks are taught to keep and trust their mental clock under pressure, and that play was an example of why.

That said, I do hope he's alright and it's something he can work back from this season. He's really had some bad luck with injuries during his career and just seems like he can't get a fair shake to show what he can do with a full, healthy season.

Yes, heaving the ball into the air when the defender gets close is a penalty, but the penalty is the same result as getting tackled bt said defender.  So heaving it is a chance worth taking (assuming you don't throw it to a defender) because a) it may lessen the hit the qb takes and b) there is a chance the refs don't call it because they think you're outside the tackle box... Or they judge it to be near a receiver.

I thought this kid had all the tools in high school.  He could throw the ball so damn effortlessly.  It’s a shame it didn’t work out here and that he’s prone to injury, hopefully he bounces back soon.
