Patterson, I guess?

John L. Smith, Arkansas' Special Special Team Coach?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
So good. So, so good.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:47 PM ^
What happened in the rest of the press conference to prompt him to slap himself? I've only ever seen the slap.

It was at the end of his press conference - he slapped himself and said "I was hit." He didn't elaborate, but it was in reference to the MSU-ND game earlier in the season. ND drew a critical personal-foul penalty on MSU after an either Weis or an ND player (I forget) lied to the officials about being hit. JLS was taking a shot at the Domers.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
Ohhh if we could only get a shot at ole' John L...
January 8th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
I love John L. Smith!!! That slap was freakin' awesome!
January 8th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
literally laughed out loud, ....... but this is good news indeed.

January 9th, 2011 at 12:36 AM ^
This would be the craziest thing ever. I think all of our heads would asplode. Also osu fans heads might aspolde as well.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
I'm hearing that a coach from one of this years BCS bowls is a targetWell, it's not Harbaugh....probably not Frank Beamer....Patterson signed the extension....OMG he's interviewing Tressel!
January 8th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
Book it!
January 8th, 2011 at 11:45 PM ^
Sarcastic or not, the mere thought of Bielema in Maize and Blue makes me vomit (obviously sarcastic, he wouldn't be in Dallas). Bielema is classless and runs up the score. Ugh.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
Both Bielema and Miles are featured speakers at the AFCA convention in Dallas that starts tomorrow. See this schedule of speakers.
Starting at 2:15 p.m. [Monday], Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio and Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy will be the featured speaker’s during the general session. Later on Monday, coaching greats, Barry Alvarez and Fisher DeBerry, will share their expertise to convention goers during the Master Coach Series at 4:15 p.m.
On Tuesday, January 11, sandwiched between the Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and the Coach of the Year Dinner at 7:30 p.m., LSU head coach Les Miles and Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema will be the featured speaker’s during that day’s general session.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
fuck that douche bag, Wisconsin can keep him.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:37 AM ^
I agree he reminds me of a goblin.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
Maze and Blue sweater vests for everyone!
January 9th, 2011 at 12:03 AM ^
It's Maize not Maze.
Unless you meant this:
Go Blue!
January 9th, 2011 at 1:08 AM ^
Someone ask for me?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:46 PM ^
though I'd be surprised. if we were interviewing him, i'd think we would've at least heard his name come up. probably patterson
January 9th, 2011 at 1:05 AM ^
I agree with you. Probably Patterson. But I'm surprised not many people mentioned Bud Foster.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
Patterson?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
Please God Patterson, Please God Patterson
January 8th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
Patterson or look at Bud Foster!
January 8th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
Now, 23gene does say he'll interview another COACH. Hence it could be Gus Malzahn, or some other coordinator.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
I heard from someone that Malzahn has a game in two days? And it isn't in Dallas.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
Could be Brent Venables too. Or Bud Foster. Or Paul Chryst
January 8th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
The tweet doesn't say that this other person will be interviewed in Dallas, and neither does it say that the other person will be interviewed within the next 2 days.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Also, do you really think DB is inclined to hire another southern spread guru who doesn't do defense? From a school connected to the year's scuzziest recruiting scandal?
January 9th, 2011 at 5:29 AM ^
Dem's mountain peoples down dere.
January 9th, 2011 at 1:09 AM ^
Les Miles is in Dallas.
And Scottsdale isn't a ridiculous distance away from Glendale.
I bet its Malzahn, and that'd be sweet.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
The extension doesn't mean Patterson is chained to TCU. He and TCU had agreed to it before the Rose Bowl, fwiw. I don't think he's dead.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
This.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:39 AM ^
This might make everything that we have gone through in the past few days worth it.
January 9th, 2011 at 1:07 AM ^
So what you're saying is........it's about to go down(Kevin Hart reference).
January 8th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
January 8th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
HELL NO.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
If we're gonna hire a sleazy SEC guy, why chose the one who can't coach?
January 8th, 2011 at 11:31 PM ^
He has a 16 million dollar buyout.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a link to that?
EDIT: Oh, nvm. That's nuts
January 8th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
I live in AR. I saw in the local news within a few days after Meyer made his announcement. Petrino signed a $3.5 million deal with the Hogs and more importantly a $18 million buyout. Petrino is not happening. Besides the entire time he was at Lousville he had a hard-on to get a SEC team. Dude aint leaving.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
January 9th, 2011 at 12:04 AM ^
$18 million is too much to pay for a coach, unless you can guarantee me that coach is going to win a national title
January 9th, 2011 at 4:41 AM ^
Especially for a coach whose name sounds like a stock car driver. This mope doesn't sniff a BCS game without landing Mallett from Michigan anyway.
January 8th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
TCU is in Fort Worth, just a hop, skip, and a jump from Dallas.
Gary Patterson?
The FCS title game was in Frisco, TX a suburb of Dallas on the 7th...KC Keeler? (yeah yeah im delusional)
January 8th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
June Jones from SMU? jk. I watched the 30 for 30 pony excess last night.
January 9th, 2011 at 12:10 AM ^
That was excellent. Well done by ESPN.
