Blake Corum is my temporary neighbor

Submitted by Elit1st on July 13th, 2023 at 6:42 PM

First post ever, so pardon any transgressions. Random story.

We are doing a reno on our house and so we had to move out for about two months. Doing a month to month at an apartment complex. Anyways, I am moving stuff in and I turn my head and I see Blake Corum walking toward me. Turns out he is my neighbor, so I have been seeing him a few times per week, talked to him briefly he was incredibly nice. I try not stare and bother him too much, but it’s always interesting seeing him do day to day stuff like walk his dogs or bring back chipotle.

That's awesome and also not really sure if this falls under humble brag or creeper.  Edit: Complete sarcasm, because Id be pretty excited about having such a bad ass neighbor too.

OP, I definitely don't need to know the location, but in this age of NIL I'm generally curious about the apartment complex. Swank? Opposite of that? Something in-between?

OP is excited and knows this is probably the only place he could turn to that would understand the level of serendipity.

I was leading a small group discussion once, doing intros for new people. Halfway through one guy’s intro I realized he was a just-graduated player for M. Had a fanboy moment. Definitely embarrassing to think back on it. Still, was pretty stoked to have met him. I get it, OP.

Not sure what is so weird about it. This is a Michigan Blog, and it’s complete happenstance that we randomly live next to him. Not like I’m posting it on Twitter or Facebook for the world to see.

I probably think it’s cooler than it is given that I think that I have a strange connection to housing and UM football in that we purchased Ron Princes (former UM offensive analyst) house when we moved back to Ann Arbor, and my closest colleague lives in Bo’s old house.

But to each their own.

I respect your opinion, I guess I just don’t see it that way since im experiencing it. I look at it the same as just talking about running into someone famous with a group of people who may find it interesting.

I was being a bit sarcastic in my OP talking about trying not to stare, but that obviously may not have come across.

I lived down the hall from Mike Hart his freshman year. A friend and I walked by him once and after we turned the corner, I told here who we had just passed. She gets all excited and runs back around the corner to see him again. He also turned back and they literally run into each other. Pretty smooth all around.

I remember seeing Ryan Van Bergen outside Charley’s after they beat OSU in 2011. Those guys look big on the field, and they manage to look even more ginormous up close.
