Blake Corum up to #3 in Heisman Odds

Submitted by MightyMatt13 on November 5th, 2022 at 11:53 PM

Workmanlike BC performance + some mediocrity from the top QBs has a reshuffling of the board:

  1. Stroud -125
  2. Hooker +250
  3. BC +700
  4. Williams +800 (playing tonight)
  5. Bennett +1000
  6. Nix +1200
  7. ...big jump off to +2500

Corum was sitting at +1400 (tied with Williams for 4th) before play today, with Hooker the odds on favorite at +100.

If nothing else he's building separation to be the non-QB invite to NYC, but our collision course could go a long way to determining this race as well!

Id like a QB from the south to win it

Id like a QB from the north to win it

Id like a QB from the west to win it

Id like to see a running back win it

There is a path if voters get put into these 4 categories.

Will the voters take today’s weather into consideration? To be fair, those stats are not indicative of his talent due to the excessive wind. He is not a mobile QB but yet one could argue that his legs are the reason they won today. It’s looking more and more like the winner of The Game is going to be your Heisman winner as well.

It’s a QB award. But if we could get two non QBs to NY in two years, that’s great. Lot of season left and last game of the season will go a long way. I’d rather win the big ten than the Heisman and I bet Blake agrees. Would love both! Go blue!

The heisman and the national championship will happen by following one path - win out and we will get both.

Bryce Young has looked better in these losses to UT/LSU than he did all season last year.

That is a very mediocre team, and it's taken a lot of his heroics to even get them to this point.

Bryce Young is savvy as hell.  He can escape doom like few QBs I have ever seen.  Let me ask you this, would you rather have Bryce Young or CJ Stroud as your QB.  The answer is clear, to me at least.

Besides that, Bryce Young seems like a genuinely good guy.  CJ Stroud seems like a douche bag.

Definitely Young. He's actually had to face some adversity this year, and he's had several "Heisman Moments" in these games to even keep Bama competitive. It's the rest of the team that's looked like crap.

Meanwhile, Stroud faces the smallest bit of adversity, and he folds like a cheap table.

Listen, I hate Bama like everyone else and am sick of their program QBs and RBs having a lock on the Heisman, but this is really the one year I've been impressed with one of their players, and he won't even be in NYC this year.

I knew Blake was beyond the norm but until I saw that graphic they showed during the Rutgers game comparing him to the other heisman winning rbs through 8 games...  wow, he is in great company.

A truly special one on our hands

At the end of the game, Corum came all the way over to the visitor section, which is at the opposite corner of the stadium as the tunnel, to give all the UM fans high fives. Pretty much everyone else had already headed into the locker rooms. That was pretty cool

Great production in limited touches for Buh-La-Kay. Another 15-20 touches vs Braska, before getting ready for a heavy load down the stretch. Will definitely be at the Downtown Athletic Club.

I know there is bias on my part towards OSU players, but I just don’t see it with Stroud. Marvin Harrison Jr. looks like the MVP of that offense. CJ doesn’t even seem to be good at clock/game management and looks very one dimensional. Misses just as many deep throws as JJ IMO.

I’m not thinking about the Heisman at all.  Corum might go to New York but he’s not a quarterback, so chances of winning are extremely slim.

But it doesn’t take away from how much fun it is watching Corum play.  That diving touchdown in the 3rd quarter last night where he had to keep his balance and reach the ball over the goal line looked soooooo much like what Mike Hart did against Sparty in 2005.  He hovered for a bit before hitting the ground.  LOVED it.
