Bill Simmons nails MSU brah's without even knowing it
Clippers fans hate Lakers fans with a passion, but Lakers fans dismiss Clippers fans and take condescending approaches like 'It's cute that you guys support such a joke of a franchise' and 'It's cute that you guys think this is the year that the Clippers won't fall apart,' which drives Clippers fans even crazier than they already are. You know those college cities where the townies detest the rich kids from campus, or a multicollege city where the kids from the less-respected college openly loathe the kids from the well-respected college a few miles away? That's how the Clippers fans feel about the Lakers fans. Pure hatred.
Replace Clippers with Sparty in that paragraph and Lakers with Michigan and tell me that doesn't just fit perfectly.

SOOOO TRUE!!!

USC to UCLA
Florida to Florida State
Arizona to Arizona State
Washington to Washington State
Texas to every other school in Texas

"I actually applied to the Lakers, and was accepted by the Lakers, but became a Clippers fan because all my friends were becoming Clippers fans."
October 15th, 2010 at 3:07 PM ^
No offense, but having an animated avatar of an opposing school's mascot getting beaten up is pretty Little Brother-ish.
October 15th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
there were a recent instance of it actually happening that could be used instead ...
October 15th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
How about we be fans of Michigan, and not fans of Ohio State's opponent.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:06 PM ^
avatar symbolizes the entirety of ones fandom. How about, I love Michigan AND hate bucky?
By your own logic since you don't even have an avatar, you don't love Michigan at all.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:28 PM ^
It's Brutus dammit!
October 15th, 2010 at 4:34 PM ^
What does Wisconsin have to do with this?
October 15th, 2010 at 4:36 PM ^
By your own logic since you don't even have an avatar, you don't love Michigan at all.
That's definitely not my logic. An avatar can say something about the person who puts one up. I choose not to say anything with pictures. You apparently choose to say that you are fixated on OSU failing.
October 15th, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
October 15th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
That's a good point. However, the fact of the matter is that the avatar is creative and interesting. Who are you to police avatars? That reminds me of two old mens in the Muppetts cartoons, the critics that sit up in the balcony goofing on everyone else with their holier-than-thou attitudes.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:33 PM ^
I'm not policing them. I'm not a mod. I have no control over what avatar he chooses. I'm just saying that it is pretty Little Brother-ish to have an avatar that is focused exclusively on another school failing, rather than celebrating your own school. And it's odd for someone with said avatar to ridicule MSU fans for supposedly being obsessed with us.
There's definitely an undercurrent of OSU fixation among some posters here, which I think is worth calling attention to. Witness the constant "Does Terrelle Pryor regret going to OSU" posts.
October 15th, 2010 at 5:41 PM ^
The school isn't failing; its football team's mascot is getting kicked in the head by Bruce Lee. And it's pretty funny. Lighten up, man.
October 15th, 2010 at 10:51 PM ^
Sometimes I wish I could find where you beg for money and just drop a couple bucks in.
October 16th, 2010 at 2:10 AM ^
Well does he?
October 15th, 2010 at 5:28 PM ^
Is one of Ohio State's opponents?
October 15th, 2010 at 3:15 PM ^
Good thing UM and OSU aren't brothers. If anything OSU is that hillbilly cousin that is the same age but has started taking steroids.
October 15th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
I love me some hillbilly jokes especially when they involve Ohio
October 15th, 2010 at 3:35 PM ^
Hey, I made that avatar and I'm damn proud of it (and they had a fight over it -- i'll see if i can find the thread).
Update: Found it.
I don't think that's very little brotherish, since Ohio State will readily agree they would love to Bruce Lee our heads off just as much as we'd like to do it to them.
Plus I love when his smile goes away right before impact. That took a lot of GIMPing.
October 15th, 2010 at 3:42 PM ^
Sorry, but it is Little Brother-ish. It's not a Michigan avatar. It's an anti-OSU avatar. And it's comical that the OP would use it while claiming, without a trace of irony, that MSU fans are fixated on us.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:04 PM ^
See above for explanation.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:21 PM ^
You aren't sorry and you did mean offense, WHY ARE YOU ABUSING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE I LIKE IT.
Also, the Buckeye mascot getting headkicked is funny IME. Carry on.
October 15th, 2010 at 5:29 PM ^
To be fixated on The Game.
October 15th, 2010 at 5:42 PM ^
But....but....Bruce Lee kicks Brutus in the head!
Let me repeat that.
BRUCE:
LEE:
KICKS BRUTUS BUCKEYE:
IN THE HEAD!
!!!!
What is so hard to understand about this?
October 15th, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
Apparently there is a subset of MGoBoarders who need it broken down into small, easily digestible bits. Either way, it's funny. Period.
October 15th, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
I get where you're coming from, but there are some things not meant to be taken completely serious. And while I do like it when people call others out on things they shouldn't be doing, sometimes the classy police does more than they need to.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:11 PM ^
No offense, but offense coming.
1. If you going to say it, just say it. No reason to preface it with a condescension.
2. I disagree with you. The avatar is brilliant, in my opinion.
October 15th, 2010 at 10:41 PM ^
totally agree. Honestly, focusing this much attention on avoiding being"little brother-ish" seems to me like it's a little little brother-ish.
October 15th, 2010 at 3:15 PM ^
Because he loves Tom Brady...which also makes Gisele the man, I guess.

Clipper fan are true fans, most Lakers fans are band-wagoners.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
Replace Clippers with Sparty in that paragraph and Lakers with Michigan and tell me that doesn't just fit perfectly.
October 15th, 2010 at 4:50 PM ^
Clipper fans (all eight of them) are hipsters who think it is cool (only in the ironic way it is possible for things to be "cool" to a hipster) to half-heartedly support a team that sucks.
October 15th, 2010 at 5:30 PM ^
All LA fans suck equally.
October 15th, 2010 at 5:38 PM ^
Are you saying that all Clipper fans live in Silver Lake or Los Feliz?
October 15th, 2010 at 10:25 PM ^
All eight of them live in one house where they sit around wearing Danny Manning throwback jerseys over their sweaters and spend the entire game debating: "If Ralph Lawler was in an Indie band, which Indie band would it be?"
October 15th, 2010 at 6:41 PM ^
I think your avatar is pretty cool and I wish I had thought of it. (Obviously I am avatar challenged).
But I would only trot it out for tOSU week.
I cheer for Michigan. I can be snarky with an opponents, but only for a short period - then I want to root for Michigan.
I am fixed on loving Michigan, not hating tOSU.
... for what it's worth...
October 15th, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
I love that Avatar. Enter the Dragon. That's one helluva hook kick that Bruce had, well placed against Brutus' face. Bruce did kick a Lakers a$$, maybe he didn't like American sports.
October 16th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
Haha funny...because it is true. THe other main notable mention i think is florida....
October 16th, 2010 at 9:26 AM ^
Assuming we forget the last three games.
"...the Lakers-Clips crowds are especially charged because Lakers fans swarm those games, lending an undeniable big brother/little brother edge to the proceedings."
October 17th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
In calling out someone else for the same thing you're doing, you make yourself look like an idiot.
Also, if you're in the business of touting our superiority over Sparty, can you at least get your grammar correct in the thread title? Come on.
