Big Ten Players of the Week - Hudson, Higdon, and Evans

Submitted by oriental andrew on

Big Ten released their Players of the Week and, not unexpectedly, Chris Evans and Karan Higdon share the honors for Offensive POTW, while Khaleke Hudson shares DPOTW honors with Iowa CB Josh Jackson, who intercepted JT Barrett 3 times, including one very Woodson-esque pick.

Our RB duo becomes the first OPOTW from Michigan since De'veon Smith on Nov 21, 2016. Hudson is the first Michigan DPOTW since Winovich on Sep 25, 2017 following the Purdue game.

That is the closest thing I have seen to Woodson since the Man himself.  Can we start offering every CB that Iowa offers from now on?

Note - that is not a slag at our CBs who have been excellent this year.  But our guys are highly rated and Iowa is finding uncovered gems.

due to the team around them, coaches, etc. Best since Mike Hart is a short list, and Toussaint and De'Veon Smith are really the only two that belong on it. Vincent Smith was a 3rd Down Back and a darn good one, but IMO you need to be an every down back to be on that list.

Toussaint went over 1,000 yards but some tweaks the offense/OL crushed him just a year later. So there is doubt to be had.

D. Smith barely ever fumbled, had great pass protection and did this:

Higdon can get there if he finishes this year strong and probably cements himself there next season. Evans could theorhetically pass or match Hidgon too.

If you think D Smith was the best RB we've had since Hart, God have mercy on your soul. Smith wasn't the best back on our roster last year... Compared to the other RBs on the depth chart he lacked speed, agility, vision, and acceleration. Hell, I think Higdon runs with more power than Smith did just based on his deciveness and ability to put his head down and hit the hole. The only thing that De'veon did better is pass blocking. So to say he was our best RB since Mike Hart, when he wasn't even the first or second best RB on our roster LAST YEAR, about made me fall over in my chair.

Minnesota was mediocre, running backs looked quicker and ran harder. Looking forward to see if they can sustain this against better defenses. Higdon is the most complete back UM has right now, hope he gets at least 20 carries per game from now on.

No it was Thomas Rawls...oh wait...I mean it was Mike Coz...oh wait...I thought you asked about NFL running backs who couldn't hardly touch the field at Michigan...
