Tough start for Peters crew. Fumble on 2nd play easy pass for Wisky for the TD on blown coverage. Little contact causing fumbles already.

Defense looks much better than the other conferences so far. Especially better than the Big 12 and Big 12 2.0 (SEC).

I understand the B1G bias but we're less than a quarter in. Not to mention Illinois is already subpar offensively and Wisconsin is starting a freshman at qb.

Illinois defense is also totally horrific.
Their linebacker play is bad, their best player is now hurt and the dline is getting a little pressure on whats supposed to be a great oline.
We will force this kid into a lot of mistakes.

If Wisconsin runs the ball for 250+ yards and gets 5 seconds during play action, anybody can look pretty good. It's how everyone was sold on Peters here a few years back.
Stop the run game, get him into drop back passing downs and let's see how he does. That's how you determine QB play.

I thought Mertz as a freshman would be a similar player to Coan but he looks way better. That’s scary because you know their going to be able to run the ball and play defense.

Wisconsin fans has been screaming for Mertz to start over Coan because Mertz can do things that Coan can't do. He might be their best QB since Russell Wilson and that's an indictment on Wisconsin QBs because they're all the same which is a game manager type.
