I'll let you know in five years.

Oh Indeed.
October 27th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
but i just want until signing day to see how it turns out based on stars right now. I'm impatient and cant wait years, months sounds better.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
Heck, I'll let you know in three months.
We have 4/5 spots left, and that could seriously change my opinion, one way or another. I agree that we won't know for a few more years on how well they translate to the college game, but for a recruiting class, I think we'll have a much better idea of how good this is - on signing day, when our class is complete. We still have a chance to finish strong.
October 28th, 2011 at 11:07 AM ^
The smallest possible time we could know is about 15 months. If 22 of these kids beat all of the upperclassmen out of their starting positions and take the team to the National Championship game, then we can say they are the greatest class ever. If they manage to do it without one of them getting caught taking $250,000 from a gambler while bitching to Mitch Albom that he can't afford to buy a hamburger from McDonalds, then they will really be the best class ever.
In other words, ask again in five years.
October 27th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
yup, lets fast forward to 2016
October 28th, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
F that, I'll just be older and fatter by then! Although being a michigan football fan will be more fun.
October 28th, 2011 at 8:21 AM ^
it doesn't have Charles Woodson in it.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
My guess is we'll find out in roughly 5 years.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:13 PM ^
only time will tell, but I do not think it is or will be we had some great classes under Lloyd Carr and some great players also. But I can say it is the best since Lloyd left without any questions imo.

It is pretty much impossible for it to be a fab 25 considering 11 play on each side. There is no QB in this class as of now, so does that mean we will be running a wildcat offense?
There is also the chance that some of the highly touted guys not living up to their rankings. It happens in every recruiting class.
I'm really excited to see how we finish off this recruiting class. I already think it is a good class, but it could be special depending on who we close the class with.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
You took more time posting a comment then ignoring it if it bothers you so much.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
If we add Banner, Garnett, and/or Murphy, Diamond, Peat. You will see the best offensive line recruiting class ever to step onto the University of Michigan.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
At this point there is no way that we get Muprhy. He is most likely staying west and last I heard Oregon and Stanford were leading.
If we were to get any of those recruits, I would say we have the best chance at Garnett. He is probally my favorite out of that bunch.
October 29th, 2011 at 12:57 AM ^
I like Garnett a lot too. He could step in and start at right guard next year. If the coaches are serious about only taking 6 o-linemen, i'm willing to bet he's at the top of their board.
October 28th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Maurice Williams, Jeff Backus, Jonathan Goodwin, and Steve Hutchinson in the same class. Tough to beat that.
October 28th, 2011 at 7:02 AM ^
as others have pointed out, we've had some amazing classes in the past.
i believe it was during the year we got antonio bass (what happened to that guy?) that we had 9 (!) recruits in the rivals top 100.
October 28th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
Antonio Bass, career ending knee injury as a true freshmen. phenomenal talent, phenomenal kid. I don't know if he graduated or where he is at today. A very sad and tragic story. I hope he is well. I was really looking forward to watching him just burn fools. He was Denard level talent.
October 28th, 2011 at 10:27 AM ^
I work with Antonio, and he is doing great by the way. He is a great guy, and has e-mailed me to talk Michigan football, even though he just met me as a fan. Antonio still follows the team real closely. He is using that UM degree and is doing well, just a phenomenal person.

BTW, sorry for the neg. I just received pos/neg powers and was seeing how it all worked and didn't realize I couldn't take it back.

....if, as seniors, these kids gets to a BCS title game after some excellent seasons before that.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
Gotta say I loved this class. I'm sure everyone else did too.

God looking at those names makes a tear come to my eye. I can't wait for the days that Michigan is competing for a chance to play in a title game. I know it will happen but if I had to guess it will probably be 2015-2016 with Shane being a jr and the current class as seniors.

October 27th, 2011 at 7:23 PM ^
I think 03 was based on signing day and draft day results.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
I think we need to add some WRs and a RB. We have great recruits at every other position, but Shane Morris and a stud RB would be unstoppable.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
We'll see.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:29 PM ^
No, with the caveat that if they win a National championship, we can reassess.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:39 PM ^
1995 with Charles Woodson, Tai Streets, Tom Brady, Rob Renes, Marcus Ray, David Bowens, Josh Williams, Daydrion Taylor, Aaron Shea, and James Hall will be next to impossible to surpass. The greatest defensive player in the history of the program, the best pass rusher in the history of the program, plus the program's most successful NFL QB ever, plus the core of the team that won 32 games in three years from '97-'99.
The '98 class was ranked #1. It didn't turn out quite as well because it was balanced more towards skill players and the two best recruits (Fargas and Henson) didn't finish their eligibility.
I think this class will be just below those two if we land a couple of stud WRs.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:55 PM ^
... that was a damn good class.
/ thinking fondly of the '98 Rose Bowl
/ shakes fist at Nebraska
October 27th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
wasn't Griese a part of that class, too? Or was he '94?
October 27th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Wasn't Griese a walk-on?
October 28th, 2011 at 9:01 AM ^
I think that he was a walk-on in 93, actually, but don't quote me on that.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
It's not the best "Michigan" recruiting class ever. It is the best recruiting class in the world, forever. Forever ever? For ever ever.
