One thing is now certain...if Harbaugh doesn't take the job the hate he experienced in 2007 will feel light.

I agree there is too much smoke. No way he pulls the rug and doesn't come.

I don't think fans will be as angry as they will be hurt. I can't speak for his ex teammates and the like but I doubt they hate the guy if he doesn't come. THAT SAID, I think a TON of it rests on when he hypothetically says no. If he drags us a week into January only to say no? That would be on us, IMO, but fans would disown the guy. His ex teammates and the like would probably faction in their anger levels. Yet, if he turns us down (which I still have a bad feeling he will, just makes me sense in my head) this week? We waited on our own accord, he likely took the time to truly consider it and said no without completely hanging us out to dry. I can't be mad at that. Disappointed? Yes. Angry? No. He's his own man.

On my way in this morning, I actually heard someone on 105.1 go out of their way to point this tweet out actually, unless I drive to work in some sort of semi-conscious state and the voices are speaking, a gift well worth the wait could very well come to Michigan football yet. I told my wife that I really don't need gifts, just my alma mater's football team to be in good hands once again. I am pretty sure I am getting shirts anyway.

My cousin is married to a guy who I like, but is kind of a bombastic know-it-all about football.  He is also an insanely loyal 49ers fan.

He was infuriatingly condescendng at Thanksgiving when I dared to mention the possiblity of Harbaugh-to-Michigan   Therefore, an announcement would make ensure our holiday celebration in early January (when I see him again) extra meaningful.

Do it for me, Jim.  Do it for the way this is going to play out.  Do it for the way he won't look me in the eye as he reels off some justification in an overconfident voice.

I don't know if these percentages are reporters covering their ass or Harbaugh being that flaky.  If it's the latter, we are going to have to worry about every off-season having new NFL offers on the table.

and one we should consider with this hire. I guarantee he is getting heavy NFL offers after one year should he come. Every year (worse with more potential success) we will go through what we're going through now. Other coaches will constantly neg recruit by saying he's going pro before they get on campus, etc. Finally, he could flat out not reach the success most assume he would/will. Believe it or not, there are some negatives and problems with this potential hire but they are good problems to have, IMO.
