B1G Mistake

Look at the B1G web site for the tournament.  It's a day after the tournament started and they haven't bothered to fill in the seeding blanks with the teams.  There are no scores from the first day's action.  The B1G doesn't give a shit about hockey.  Pathetic.

Those stands are abysmal. What a horrible thing. And for what? I'm all for Brian's plan (have games hosted by home courts). But he said that OSU and Wisconsin were against this. Can OSU and Wisconsin hold the rest of the conference hostage? Alternatively, I personally think that Chicago would be a much more central and easier venue to host than Minnesota. Just my two cents. Lastly, what's the best way to share my opinion with the powers that be? I normally don't do something like that, but those empty stands are just appalling.

being most centrally located of any large city within the B1G footprint (but only if the B1G continues to refuse to have games hosted by home rinks of the higher-seeded teams).  But we're talking about the current leadership of the B1G, meaning they would instead more likely locate it in Indianapolis, where most people have no interest in hockey whatsoever.

Personally, I'd love to see it in Chicago or even Grand Rapids.  Both are within a 1 1/2  drive for me.  What's not to like???

I agree on having Big10 cities host. Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Minneapolis, State College, and occasionally Madison and Columbus would all be great sites. Regarding Chicago, I'd only suggest it if for some reason it is considered necessary to play at a "neutral" site. In terms of media coverage, things to do in the city, attractiveness of the venue, etc., I think a lot of fans would make the trip. Chicago is within 6 hours of EVERY team except PSU. Indianapolis makes sense for basketball, and maybe football, but Chicago is way more of a hockey town than Indy. If a neutral site, it needs to be a central site with some generic hockey fans, and a fair amount of alumni support. Chicago fits that better than all other locales.

The Big Ten Basketball Tournament in New York City

This is 2016. If they want to put butts in the seats and attract media attention... Chicago=major media market that is centrally located, plus it's the home of the BTN offices and studios. Not to mention it's a major alumni hub for every team in the tournament--you can't walk around Chicago on a football Saturday and not pick out every B1G team's logo in about an hour. It makes total sense.
