It should be in a hockey town that doubles as a central location, like Detroit.

came dressed as empty seats
Look at the B1G web site for the tournament. It's a day after the tournament started and they haven't bothered to fill in the seeding blanks with the teams. There are no scores from the first day's action. The B1G doesn't give a shit about hockey. Pathetic.
Not one damn bit.
If the B1G cared, they would have had someone assigned last night to immediately update those brackets as soon as each game ended. But worse yet, it's already 9:08 am the next day and still... nothing.
That's 31 minutes before the game starts though right...
Uh no the game is about to start right now.
But when was the picture taken? Note the 31:21 on the clock.
Doesn't matter. There's still no one there.
Same thing happens every year. There are more rats in that building than humans.
Show me any arena at 4PM on a work day that is actually full 30 minutes before the puck drops.
If you're going to outrage, at least outrage reasonably. But that would mean no thread to start, so...

My guess it the ticket holders are getting drunk on cheap beer outside of the stadium.
any way u sIice it pIain and simpIe embarassing
I'm not embarrassed. Not about this anyways. Why should I feel bad about it? I have plenty of other things to feel bad about.
Attendance at a college hockey event is pretty damn far down my list of things to give 1 shit about, much less be embarrassed over.

It's relevant and he usually provides interesting and good content to discuss, leave him alone.
If you don't want to read his stuff, just click away to another page when you see his name, I say that respectfully.

You should be judging threads by the content: not the poster.
Looks like an ACC Football championship out there
Or a staee home football game.

The pic of Jack Hammer on his way to Hotel Putingrad is a dead give away.

It was last year. And about 4 people were there for games not including Michigan.
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/b1g-hockey-tournament-thread-lol-attendance
Show me any situation in which there woud be people in the stands to watch the zambonis long before the game starts.
the tickets are still ridiculously overpriced!
Miami of Ohio football has better attendance.
Those stands are abysmal. What a horrible thing. And for what? I'm all for Brian's plan (have games hosted by home courts). But he said that OSU and Wisconsin were against this. Can OSU and Wisconsin hold the rest of the conference hostage? Alternatively, I personally think that Chicago would be a much more central and easier venue to host than Minnesota. Just my two cents. Lastly, what's the best way to share my opinion with the powers that be? I normally don't do something like that, but those empty stands are just appalling.
being most centrally located of any large city within the B1G footprint (but only if the B1G continues to refuse to have games hosted by home rinks of the higher-seeded teams). But we're talking about the current leadership of the B1G, meaning they would instead more likely locate it in Indianapolis, where most people have no interest in hockey whatsoever.
Personally, I'd love to see it in Chicago or even Grand Rapids. Both are within a 1 1/2 drive for me. What's not to like???
Neutral site hockey is idiotic. Needs to be played on campuses.
If they must do a neutral site, the Huntington Center in Toledo is perfect. It's in the middle of the B1G land and it's not a huge arena.
you did read my entire post, including the all-important caveat, right? or did you?

I agree on having Big10 cities host. Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Minneapolis, State College, and occasionally Madison and Columbus would all be great sites. Regarding Chicago, I'd only suggest it if for some reason it is considered necessary to play at a "neutral" site. In terms of media coverage, things to do in the city, attractiveness of the venue, etc., I think a lot of fans would make the trip. Chicago is within 6 hours of EVERY team except PSU. Indianapolis makes sense for basketball, and maybe football, but Chicago is way more of a hockey town than Indy. If a neutral site, it needs to be a central site with some generic hockey fans, and a fair amount of alumni support. Chicago fits that better than all other locales.
Signed,
The Big Ten Basketball Tournament in New York City
This is 2016. If they want to put butts in the seats and attract media attention... Chicago=major media market that is centrally located, plus it's the home of the BTN offices and studios. Not to mention it's a major alumni hub for every team in the tournament--you can't walk around Chicago on a football Saturday and not pick out every B1G team's logo in about an hour. It makes total sense.
Not exactly the same thing at all but remember that outdoor debacle last year at Soldier Field?
According to the Chicago folk, hockey was invented on the shores of Lake Michigan in 2009.
And that tournament shouldn't be in New York City.
