Awesome Michigan Kicking Prowess...........(Help me TomVH, you're our only hope!)
So it sounds like the Goudis kid is yet again switching commitments and heading to Miami leaving your brave winged warriors to contemplate yet another year of the awesome kicking prowess of Broekhuisen, Gibbons, and an assortment of other random students who become walkon contenders.
TomVH is there any word out there on the hunt for another possible kicker or was anyone else seriously considering us when Goudis committed and said person has not yet committed elsewhere?
If not, I suppose I should be asking Formerly Anonymous about whether Soony Saad or any other soccer players are going to step up and be this springs "Justin Meram Soccer-Player records YouTube kicking hope video" award winner.

Oh god please.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
Has he made it official that hes going to Miami?
I thought he was still undecided.

When you're at about -100, you need to make a celebratory thread so we can all bang you home to positive digits.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
I second this.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
Maybe we should test the power of the pos-bang? Anyone think we could get him in the black with one pos-bang thread right now?? Could be a fun Friday afternoon activity . . .
January 14th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
I'll bet it could happen if he posts in it like 4 times. Then everyone that comes accross it can rock him up 4 times.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
Lets try . . . Give me a minute.
January 14th, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
but still a few posbangs short myself...
January 14th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
Count me in.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
Yes, your rise from the ashes has been one of the great positive stories of 2010 and early 2011. An appropriate celebration must be in order.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:41 PM ^
It will be a glorious day for sure, only made possible by having great mgofriends but I sure am going to miss the Cholitas.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
Fu I dont know if I was on one of my sabaticals or what but how again did you wind up riding the negative train so far down again?
January 14th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
Look at his signature.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
Now I know... I should probably start paying attention to signatures now.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
From -4800 to -2200 in less than a week.
Busier than Brandon. Impressive.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
Are you saying that Fu went to 6 cities in 6 days to get that many points?
January 14th, 2011 at 2:58 PM ^
then he must be real tired. Enjoy your full night's rest - you've earned it.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
I guess I don't understand why Goudis switched his commitment. How much of a change in philosophies can it be for the kicker?
January 14th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
haha. winner.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Too bad for him. He would have been touched.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
enough with the touching.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
I'm just glad RR never said anything about touching kids. The Freep Jihad would have been oh so much uglier.....
January 14th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
His responsibilities are not changing, but who he has to answer to has changed, and unless he was totally sold on the school, why not look elsewhere? Especially if that school has coaches on staff who you would be answering to, unlike Michigan, as far as I know. I don't think Goudis would be gone had this transition happened earlier, but it might be a little late for us with a Miami visit in recent memory for him as he decides where he'll attend in the coming weeks.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
because he caught wind that Hoke might bring a coach on that would supervise kickers and that's, like, not his style.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
I think there was a laces out versus laces in issue. Hoke likes 'em in.
January 14th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
What are Denard's thoughts on that?
January 14th, 2011 at 7:05 PM ^
Maybe RR promised him he'd use the swinging gate formation on PAT's and Hoke won't make that promise.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Can someone explain to me why a coaching change makes a kicker decommit? Dude, you wack off during practice all day and then kick the ball every once in a while. You aren't guaranteed to go to the NFL, so go to a school that will give you a degree that will mean something when you graduate. If you are chasing hot chicks at Miami, don't worry about it. You are a kicker and you'll never pull ass anyway.
January 14th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
If I had to guess, he probably changed his commit to here because of either RichRod or whichever coach on the staff that was recruiting him. That relationship was severed when the coaching staff was fired. Maybe that was a good part of the reason he decided to come here. Maybe the turmoil of the coaching search and the length of it played a part.
Most likely it was the coaching change. It'd be very easy to get attached to a certain coach, especially if they were recruiting you as hard as I imagine Rodriguez was due to our kicking situation.
January 14th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
He saw progress under RR and is concerned that the progress won't continue over the next 3 or 4 years with a new coach.
January 14th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
Funny Schit,because its true.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Personally, I'm pulling for the random students
January 14th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Are very high on Michigan. I bet they make him wait until he talks to Brady first.
You know how those chicks on South Beach love kickers!
January 14th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
Those who come can be champions... Those Who Stay Will Be Champions! If he wants to go play for miami good luck. He'll enjoy the view looking up at us in a yr or 2.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
Munch. Who care's we've driven off our best recruits for 2011? We've got a Michigan man endorsed by Lloyd on board now, boy howdy! Let the rubber field pellets fly! Let's have a Michigan Ho down and remember the good 'ol days! (of losing bowl games every year...). Hail Lloyd!!!
January 14th, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
I am not familiar with this saying but am intrigued . . . Can I have the root of origin, please?
January 14th, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
Boy Howdy: "An exclamation of enthusiastic agreement which can be used in both a genuine or sarcastic tone. In addition can used to add emphasis to a statement, much like the word _ can. " . I am actually using the sarcastic tone...but also with the emphasis on the "_" us, ouch, I hate impatient retro M fans. They can't really have attended the M and BE that way could they? I support Bradey Hoke but a big _ YOU to the RichRod haters, David Brandon, and esp. the Lloyd (arrived in Pasadena 2007 at 4am to get parking spot, drove from Reno NV, only to sit next to USC frat boys chanting "OVER RATED"... I will always remember you Lloyd but not fondly.
January 14th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
If you were using that version you forgot to include
/s
Thanks for clearing that up.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:39 PM ^
If you kick a field goal in Miami's stadium and no one is there to see it, does it even count?
January 14th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
At least he'll have a tan and can go party at South Beach later.
January 14th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
Then again, having nobody show up for your games might take the pressure off of the kicker.
January 14th, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
I heard we were getting a commitment from this girl...She's already die hard blue and I heard she'll knock balls through the uprights all day...
January 14th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
even better is, she is wearing Nike....
January 14th, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
I am having a hard time getting on this kids case
January 14th, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
He was the other California kicker (with terrific grades) who'd just gotten a Michigan offer, and was very high on it, when Goudis switched over, making the timing of Goudis' switch pretty interesting considering they trained together. Is he still out there? I think Loftus was considering Stanford too. Would he feel less warm toward Michigan since this firing/hiring mess? Stanford's lost their head coach too, so I've heard, but probably keeps much of the rest of their staff, system and players. Anyone know anything?
January 14th, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
According to Rival's databank...Connor is still uncommitted
January 14th, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
Can we have a source for this?
January 14th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
I say we offer a carton of cigarettes and go after Nigel "The Leg" Gruff. He probably still has eligibility left, as he was a soccer player before crossing picket lines.
