It's clear there is some disorganization in the recruiting department. Between last years scholarship pulling at the last minute, Trevor Lawrence being offered twice, and now this, it makes me wonder who is doing what over there. My guess is a lot of this work is being outsourced to interns and low level staffers. At some point these mistakes need to stop happening.

Absolutely.  A guy who will back-out of his commitment to Michigan football over an errant letter was not a guy who really wanted to be there.  Or he is such a prima donna that you wouldn't want him on the team anyway.  It's the way a guy talks about a girl he just dumped.  It also means, as in most cases, that after the decommitment there is no way he will pick us later.

but posted on reddit:

"A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went," Solomon said. "I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them, but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me."

Ouch.

I was the scorekeeper for the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) and now the Stockton Heat (AHL) for 11 years. I've NEVER had an I.D. with my last name spelled correctly. Doesn't bother me a bit. Actually, I look forward to each season to see what they come up with!!!!

Two different power dynamics.

In your case - your boss has the money and you want it. He has leverage and you have to lump it. It's a buyers market.

In this case - the recruit has talent and Michigan wants it. The recruit has leverage and coaches have to lump it. It's a sellers market.

NSD is a long ways away and our bandwagon is quite large with plenty of room in the 5-star seating area.  I expect it to fill up between now and next February.  Do these verbal commits/decommits are unimportant until after the season plays out....nobody will remember this tweet.

Easy come, easy go... Wasn't this kid a surprise commit to start with? The recruiting staff will find the next man up, who will be lucky to be part of this program. Best of luck at UG.

If the details are true, someone obviously screwed up. But if it caused this kid to de-commit, maybe everyone's better off if he goes somewhere else.

I'd say this is a pretty good excuse to decommit for a kid who was already having reservations and feeling pressure from family.  If he wants back in, it won't be because he's come to terms with this minor snafu but rather because he's had a real change of heart and his family is on board this time around.

If you read his Twitter post, he says he still plans on taking his official to Michigan. That in itself is a little different from most decommit situations. We shall see what happens with him from here.
