They are just getting their excuses prepared.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:14 PM ^
I give negative shits about Georgia excuses.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:23 PM ^
Uhhhh does this mean excreted shit is now being returned to your bunghole?
December 28th, 2021 at 12:35 PM ^
Maybe he’s puking.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:40 PM ^
If he's got external crap going back in, I'm gonna puke...
December 28th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Maybe he's getting a fecal transplant: https://thefecaltransplantfoundation.org/what-is-fecal-transplant/
December 28th, 2021 at 11:43 PM ^
How do I become a poop donor?
? ?? ?

Thou shalt not fight the turtle head
December 28th, 2021 at 1:48 PM ^
Pretty sure this is how it works.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:12 PM ^
Are Georgia excuses better than OSU excuses?
SEC - It just means more.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
Well, symptomatic usually means positive, so....
By the time we get to game day, it's going to be Alan Bowman vs. Carson Beck (yes, I looked up Georgia's depth chart for this post).
December 28th, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
Maybe not positive. My 83 year old mother had all the symptoms to include low O2 levels and spent the day in the ER yesterday and she tested negative. So you know that there is still the regular flu around.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
True. Though I hope they're testing more than once to guard against false negatives.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
And false positives.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:28 PM ^
Yes. Gotta test multiple times.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:40 PM ^
The flu is running thru my house and for my wife and son, it has been an ass-kicker. Lot of sickness going around the country right now.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:01 PM ^
Just lost my best friends dad to the flu. The guy was like a second father to me. Nothing outrageous as far as pre existing conditions and had all his vaccinations. We had it from thanksgiving on and it kicked our healthy asses. Mine went straight to a sinus infection and took an antibiotic to feel better after fighting it for 2 weeks. My whole Missouri office has influenza A which is probably what we had. Our Alabama office has it as well. It’s everywhere.
December 28th, 2021 at 5:23 PM ^
My father contracted the flu while he was in memory care, then once the flu cleared, he got pneumonia and ended up dying from that. He was 85 and his body just couldn't fight it off. It was designated a pneumonia death, not a flu death, though.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
Yeah, just ask the buckeyes
December 28th, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
I am confident that if a UGA starter is COVID positive now then he will magically be negative by game time.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:03 PM ^
I'm sorry, but didn't the newest guidelines say anybody could play as long as they were fully vaccinated, regardless of symptoms. Wasn't there a pretty noticeable "or" in their policy update last week.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:42 PM ^
That had to do with testing. Anyone going onto the field must be tested prior - unless they are fully vaccinated. However, if you test positive, then you still have to clear protocol with two negative tests, 24 hours apart - vaxxed or not...
December 28th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
Ah, okay, so the teams don't have to test anyone vaccinated, which they all were after the team wide boosters last Wednesday?
So Dax, Daniels, Pickens, etc... Must've tested privately over the holidays and then self-reported their positives?
December 28th, 2021 at 1:30 PM ^
I haven't heard one way or another, but I assume everyone is being tested quite frequently. Not testing risks allowing an infected person to continue to practice and socialize, thus infecting multiple others. I hope they're being tested regularly, at least!
December 28th, 2021 at 3:05 PM ^
They’re not unless symptomatic. More than likely those who are testing positive are actually not feeling well and the test is to rule it out. My daughter in law was pretty sick on Xmas eve and tested positive and then tested negative today. She’s in healthcare so will quarantine according to the new guidelines and go back to work. Granted she’s 23 so what would kick my old ass for a week she beat in 4 days.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:40 PM ^
So... If you are fully vaccinated, you don't need to test in order to go on the field. Regardless if symptoms exist?!
December 28th, 2021 at 1:46 PM ^
So keep giving Dax a test every 10 minutes until you get two false negatives, suit up, and get in the game...
December 28th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
There are rumors that they suspect some kind of bug (not covid) is making the rounds and causing symptoms. Who knows if this triggers any kind of covid testing and forced quarantines this week. Also people speculating that Stetson has a hamstring injury and may not start. At least that's what the guy on counterstrike told me.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
Admittedly, fewer recruiting tidbits are being passed around via Counterstrike. But this is due to a decreasing population using the platform overall, so unfortunately, I haven't been able to really branch out to injury reports. I'll pass along any info that I come across, but at this point, I'm guessing they'd come from coaching staff members as opposed to players, and they're pretty tight-lipped on that kind of thing.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
Up vote for the Counter Strike reference.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:21 PM ^
It's probably a covid variant that has mutated so much that it doesn't test out as covid. Essentially a new virus.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
You probably have no idea if that’s the case and shouldn’t be spouting that. If you have epidemiology cred, I’ll gladly eat crow.
December 28th, 2021 at 5:49 PM ^
Yeah, I'm gonna feel pretty good quoting scientists. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/28/omicron-is-not-the-same-disease-as-earlier-covid-waves-says-uk-scientist
December 28th, 2021 at 12:16 PM ^
Well that's not good.
Here's to a speedy recovery for everyone who has come down with COVID-19, irrespective of which team they play for. Some things are more important than football.
December 28th, 2021 at 12:57 PM ^
I hate this
December 28th, 2021 at 1:05 PM ^
I am 100% confident that no Georgia players will "test" positive by game time. I suspect several will BE positive, but will never be tested no matter what symptoms they display.
The rules laid out for the game essentially encourage teams to just not test anyone. Its pretty dumb, but honestly probably better than both teams having to sit 15 asymptomatic players.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
I doubt this. This suggestion assumes that the coaching staff and athletic department value game-time availability more than the lives of their players. I'm willing, for the sake of playing along with regional rivalries, to accept that may be true of some programs, but I just can't bring myself to believe that Harbaugh and the U of M staff would happily accept mass infections and the accompanying significant, and long-term, and potentially mortal, risks to player health, just to play the game.
I doubt it.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
Did you miss the part where he said “Georgia”
December 28th, 2021 at 2:15 PM ^
No, but I was responding to the suggestion that "teams" (which, unless I'm mistaken, would include ours) are "essentially encourage[d] ... to just not test anyone."
I'm suggesting that that's not correct. Teams -- again, including both Georgia and Michigan -- have a great deal of incentive to test everyone.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
"This suggestion assumes that the coaching staff and athletic department value game-time availability more than the lives of their players."
I think the parent poster is referring to the possibility that the SEC (Georgia) could play fast and loose with the rules. Based on history I'd expect as much.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:07 PM ^
I was referring to Georgia, but since we are on the topic, what would be the incentive for Michigan to be doing blanket testing of asymptomatic players?
Look at all the bowl games being cancelled. World Juniors have issues. NHL shut down. NBA having problems. I would be SHOCKED if the college playoff teams aren't having problems too. But a lot of these positive tests are asymptomatic breakthrough cases in vaccinated people.
I doubt there is much risk to an asymptomatic player if he plays. The risk is spreading it to other players.
I'm pretty confident that if MIchigan was blanket testing all their players we would have several positives by now. I'm guessing they are only testing symptomatic players. But that is at team discretion, so a team like Georgia could just not test symptomatic players either, as long as they are vaccinated.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:14 PM ^
Covid isn’t the Black Death, dude. Yes, it is serious for a segment of the population which is why we need to vaccinate and take protective measures. But for most it is something that they will recover from in a few days.
Treating Covid like it is the Bubonic Plague is as dumb as treating it like the common cold.
December 28th, 2021 at 2:20 PM ^
Agree to disagree. One wonders what level of less-than-Black-Death risk factor is sufficient for treating a disease that has killed over five million people worldwide as potentially deadly for those who are infected.
I mean, countries going into lockdown, airlines not flying, mask mandates, etc. And, yes, teams canceling their bowl plans. It's quite possible that everyone is over-reacting, I guess. Or it's possible that you're under-reacting.
Either way.
December 28th, 2021 at 3:12 PM ^
Of the five million, very minor percentage in their late teens to early 20s though. Especially without preexisting comorbidities.
I’m not saying we should be flippant about it. Just recognize that the risk of death (since that is what’s being discussed) for this age cohort is very low.
(I’m also not saying death is the only outcome to consider. Nor am I saying the risk of them transmitting to others (especially more at-risk folk) doesn’t matter.).
So I agree with those who want to dial back the “player safety” concerns a bit.
December 28th, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
Vast majority are elderly. Like 75%.
The virus is not a threat to college age kids.
December 28th, 2021 at 5:27 PM ^
That depends on the college kid. A healthy kid, yes. But an immune-compromised one, no.
December 28th, 2021 at 4:43 PM ^
TB has killed thousands daily for literally centuries. Do you worry about TB?
It isn’t potentially deadly for most people. That is a statistical fact.
It’s more than possible that you are exaggerating the threat because you are in the grip of fear. A rational mind looks at the numbers and the context and sees that, while serious, Covid, isn’t an apocalyptic event.
All of those measures are undertaken to protect the vulnerable. Some are probably a bit over the top now that we have a vaccines and increasing acquired immunity.
Covid is here to stay. We need to find a way to live with it.
December 28th, 2021 at 5:18 PM ^
TB does not fill up hospitals to the point where people are dying from lack of service.
December 28th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Is it possible that the "Buckeye Bug" has now mutated to become the "Bulldog Bug" for pre-game excuses?
