Army-Navy Posbang Thread

Submitted by Jumpman Maize on
Mgoladies and gentlemen, it is officially the last week of the college football season with a regular season game. *sigh* However, said regular season game is perhaps the best of them all. Rather than ruining a faction of people's weekend, the Army-Navy game unites us. Everyone wins with Army-Navy. Thank you to all veterans and active duty members. POSBANGGGGG!!!!!

LOL - I came home for Thanksgiving after that Vietnam war class, and I nearly got the shit beaten out of me at the dinner table for spouting off some rhetoric I learned in that class.  The general was all, "what the fuck are they stuffing your head with up there?"

This game embodies the best of amateur athletics. Leaving aside the military component of this there is the fact that none of these men will play in the NFL. They are playing this game for the love of it. They go through the riguours of both academy and football life and come out better men for it.

If you are no patriot, but love spirited competition this game is for. If you love your country but are indifferent to games not involving Michigan this game is for you.

I used to be indifferent to this game,  but as the college game becomes ever more professionalized games such as Army-Navy grow in stature because of the purity of the game itself. I have finally comprehended why it is so special.

Each player today will give his last ounce of effort. He will run, block, and tackle with a tenacity unsurpassed. He will give it his all for all is he what he can only give as a officer as in the United States military. It's expected of them on the field of play and battle.

It's in recognition of this that I'll watch today.

I won't and can't take sides. My late grandfathers would surely choose the Navy as they were both Marines, but I have no skin in this game. I am a civilian. I appreciate and honor all those who serve this nation honorably. It is my fondest hope that someday this nation will prove itself worthy of the sacrifices of those who have "borne the battle".

I always pull for whichever team has the lower number of wins in the all time series. For the last few years, that means I have been rooting for Army.

Go Army!

I totally agree with Jumpman Maize above- this IS what college football is all about.

This game will never be destroyed by a change of conferences for the team in the never ending quest for CFB big bucks over tradition (as in OK vs. Neb)

Its our last stand against unlimited NCAA greed and the dark side

Have seen Army twice this season. Currently have a player being heavily recruited by Army. Great coaching staff. I'll be at Navy this winter for their coaches clinic. Enjoy watching both schools since the HS I coach at runs triple. Both sides are entertaining to watch and epitomize dedication, commitment and sacrifice.
