AP Finally Acknowledges Jim Harbaugh Has Signed a Contract

Submitted by Waynes World on

The Associated Press at 7:01 pm EST finally admits Jim Harbaugh has signed a Contract with Michigan according to sources. Really? The National media has really been disappointing!

I thought it wasn't "signature on a contract" official until he landed. I didn't think there was a signature on the 22nd. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Hilarious. I'm sure NFL network is still pushing the raiders. Funny how Saban to bama, and Meyer to Ohio were slam dunk hires, while Michigan landing Harbaugh is desperate. Never realized how much people honestly hate Michigan

they hate us, but who care's what they think?  we're balling now.  it's about to be really fun boys and girls, let's just sit back and enjoy the next several years.

I feel somewhat guilty for this, but I can't wait to see how Harbaugh completely pisses everyone off. It isn't a question of whether, but rather in what amazing, jaw-dropping,artful way will he manage to drive tOSU, MSU, ND and everyone else to distraction. That level of intensity cannot be condemned, but merely admired. He reminds me a bit of Chelios--the guy was deeply hated by everyone except those who rooted for him. He's exactly what we need. Hell yes, we're Michigan. If you don't like it, then beat us on the field. Otherwise, What's YOUR deal?

I was Born in East Lansing but moved to Texas when I was 4. I was drawing Block M's on the teachers chalk board in 2nd grade. I have always been the outcast as most people around here are UT, OU, SMU, A&M, TT, or TCU fans but they never gave me to much crap. I'm guessing since AA is so far away from Dallas that there really isn't much hatred, mainly respect for UM's history for those who have some football knowledge.

I am glad to see a "reputable news source" move with this story.  I don't care how it happened or even when it happened at this point.  I just want to see Jim Harbaugh address the crowd at the Crisler Center tomorrow.  It will be one of the few times the halftime show becomes better television than the basketball game.

Hopefully, the AP report - which I don't think I would have expected much before this point really - starts to put to bed a lot of the articles still floating about that simply reek of some strange denial. Even better, I hope it quiets some of the individuals still in denial, up to and including the promised deletion of TigerDroolings' twitter account - for him, the ship is already at the bottom of the North Atlantic.

IDK why people are even bothering with this loser. He just wants his 15 minutes of fame anyway he can. He also won't delete his twitter. I'm willing to bet on it. Even if he did he would just remake another one just like it and continue to troll. Two words come to mind: attention whore

I said this on another thread in greater detail, but it is difficult for most folks to tell the difference between news and opinion, because facts can be spun a lot of ways.

"Harbaugh has signed a contract with Michigan."

"Sources are now saying that Harbaugh has signed the Michigan contract, but we have no verification of that as yet, and there are also reports that NFL teams are still planning to make offers to Harbaugh."

"We do not know whether there is a signed contract between Harbaugh and Michigan yet, because neither party is available for comment."

"With no viable NFL alternative, Jim Harbaugh accepted Michigan's offer to coach his alma mater."

Same news. Spun four ways.

when he said, "it may be arrogant, and if it is then it is. We're Michigan!" I keep thinking that maybe we are just a little too focused on us that we don't see it. But then I read the filth from LaCanfora and Rappaport and think.... no, it's them. Living in the heart of ESECPN country has made me appreciate this blog soooo much more.

On this story. Of course no one outside the Michigan fan base will call them out for it or even be aware. The national media will do everything they can to continue to promote their false narratives.

To be fair to The Associated Press, they are notoriously slow on breaking stories because they are far more thorough than other outlets when it comes to sourcing. They don't throw stuff against the wall on first word to break news. They don't throw rumors and vague storylines out there and present it as news, so they don't have to toe-tap around being wrong (i.e. Rapaport's "rebuffed" report).

While the national media deserves a lot of flak for how they handled this story, and while many people are starting to realize that national talking heads usually are only educated on the surface level of most topics, attacking the AP for waiting to post a confirmed story isn't really one of them.

Isn't it funny how the national media played up the supposed rebuff of UM by Cutcliffe, and the supposed rebuff of UM by Harbaugh, but the rebuff of the NFL by Harbaugh is downplayed?

I'm so happy we got the best hire possible that we can now complain that the national media is slow to report what we already know. We could be throwing a fit about Shiano getting hired, but thankfully we are not.

This wasn't a great hire. This was a walk off grand slam, bottom of the 9th, game 7, 2 outs kind of hire. Given the sorry state of Michigan affairs right now, this hire could not be any bigger, and could not have come at a better time.

If Harbaugh can't return Michigan to greatness, not even the football gods themselves could do it.
