Anybody able to get Man U/Madrid tickets?

Submitted by Bobby Digital on

MGoBlue isn't returning any results for the cheaper tickets. Can it really be sold out already?

Edit: Kept trying and got a pair in the $45 range. Keep hope alive, I guess.

I was on at 8:30AM yesterday and had a chance for 4 decent end zone tickets for $45 each.  I screwed around, timed out,  and by the time I got back the best available were in row 90.  I ended up with the $70 tickets in row 30.

There was a pre-pre-sale yesterday for athletic donors.  By 9:30am the lower seats in the corner  (at $90) were already back to the 45th row.

I tried at 9am and wasn't showing anything available. Is it possible it sold out in 30 minutes..

fWIW that presage bs that the athletic sent out was worthless since you didn't have to put in your I.D. You would usually use for season ticket purchases. Scalpels probably got their hands on the presale code and bought it out if it went that fast.

if memory serves, the cap was 50 tix. were they that afraid that no one would buy tix for this event?  they're nuts, even a guy like me understands the chances of ever seeing a game like this again in the area, and i bought 2 tix.  Real Madrid and Man U, yeah, I'm seeing that, and I am not a soccer fan.

... in the 150USD zone and ended up in section 4 row 46 -- OUCH.

I did get an email (to all alumni?) with today's date and the code CORNER.

However, as a season ticket holder, I was given yesterday's date at 8:30 a.m. and the code CHAMPION.

The best I could do at 8:40 or so in the $45 seats was row 93 in the deep endzone.  I wound up with Section 19 tickets in the corner for $75 (six rows ahead of my football season tickets).

I've heard issues with the website are at play.  If you call the ticket office you may have more luck.

Yesterday wasn't just donors - it was open to students/staff/donors and I believe football season ticket holders.

Starting an hour ago is was open to anyone with an "exclusive" passcode (CORNER or HEADER, from Mich athletics emails and facebook respectively).  So, you probably want to buy soon before it's open to everyone on Thursday.

Someone got my group's tickets yesterday.  A little high - row 83 - but as we all know, there's no bad seat in the Big House!

I don't know about that.  There are a lot of games around the country, including at least one other on the same date (at the University of Minnesota).  People willing to travel to see European soccer will have choices.

Weather is a big deal in that comparison though.

The weather sucked for the Winter Classic - literally about as bad as it could be for anyone commuting.

The worst the weather can be on August 2 is rain and in the 60s.  More than likely to be sunny and 85 and a 4pm kickoff means it'll cool off as the game progresses.

Would really live to go to this game but I'll be at a bachelor party/getaway that weekend. Crazy 'cause all the guys I'll be with are both Michigan grads and bigger soccer fans than I am.

And couldnt get sideline seats, but did get 4 tickets in section 32 for $70 a piece. Thinking by the time Thursday rolls around and the general public can get tickets there might be nothing left!

I was all set to buy tickets but then I heard that most of the top players likely won't attend the exhibition. No Ronaldo or Rooney really takes the luster off.

Kind of pissed - I had gotten an email saying the early purchase was yesterday, but then I got a "correction" saying it opened today.  So, I tried to get tix, reduced to going with best available:

Four seats in the endzone, section 29, row 89...ridiculous, but I bought them anyways.  Will remind me of being a freshman, somewhat, and so we have that going for us.

As I understand it, there is a cap on the tickets being sold for all, for each presale.  Keep trying all the codes.  There WILL be tickets for public sale.  The presale is a subset of tickets.  That's how it typcally works for concerts and the like.

I'm happy to see such high demand, if nothing else. It seems inevitable that the World Cup will be back in the US in the next 20 years and hopefully this will show that Michigan Stadium would be a good venue. If they can get the elevated surface to work (and I don't see any reason it wouldn't), you could probably get 100,000 in easily. Perfect for a World Cup final...

I am pissed that I couldn't get two together. I should have received the code for season ticket holders but I never received it.

I will keep trying. I am sure I can get two on the secondary market. :)

I don't get many chances to spend time with my little brother, I work on the other side of the state, and then will be off to an out of state grad school. However I would've been in town the Aug 2 week and my brother is a huge soccer nut. Do any of you know where I can get tickets (not a season ticket holder or UM student) or do any of you have two tickets you would be willing to sell at a reasonable price?

EDIT: Bought two tickets in section 5

Glory glory Man United!  Hopefully they keep Kagawa and Januzaj in the offseason...those two plus Mata, Rooney, and a healthy Van Persie would be a nightmare offense to deal with.

Rooney and van Persie can't play together. Didn't work for SAF, won't work for Moyes. They just do not mesh. But you're right. If they sell Kagawa/Nani but keep Young/Valencia, I will be very upset.

Got my ticket, by the way. $210 for what could be the greatest experience of my young life so far.

Organizing a family reunion around the game (with tailgate).  Was on at 8:30am yesterday and got 28 (yes, 28) tickets in the lower corner, rows 5 and 6.  The $70 wasn't bad for the seats, especially considering the 15+ tickets dropped the ticket surcharge to $2/ticket.  Plus, I got all the points on the credit card, so effectively my ticket is $20 off ;)

Bale is worth the price of admission. Saw him at White Hart Lane two years ago score a goal that was beyond words. Giggs still can deliver beautiful passes only a few can do. I really doubt if there is a near capacity crowd we will be seeing only MLS quality soccer.

But in an exhibition game and without Wilson and Kaepernick.

Still interesting and entertaining from a curiosity point of view, but nothing at all like seeing a real game that means something with all the key players giving 100%.

I just grabbed 2 in section 19. Not sure what's going on but I wasn't able to find any earlier in the day!
