Any MGoBurners out there?
Hey MGoBloggers,
I'm knocking out a bucket list item next month by heading out with a Detroit/Philly based group of maniacs to Burning Man. This has been two years in the making, and even though I'm married/50 years old and will most like die on the playa of Black Rock City, Nevada, I'm wondering if there will be anyone from the MGoBlog community coming out to die with me.
This is something I've wanted to do forever, and even though I'm not the granola-eating, hippie, experiential type, I'm excited to see how a community of 70,000 people rises in the desert, has countless venues or music, art, and culture, and then disappears without a trace a week later. Begged the wife and close friends to come with me. And even though I have my wife's enthusiastic support, she was a solid no-freaking-way about attending with me. Friends were all like, "It's your funeral, dude..."
So. Anyone going?
The Fuck?
That's about right.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one with the same thought.
OP at Burning Man:
Could happen!
Thought forsure this was about burner accounts
Yeah. Probably should have titled better. Did we lose the ability to edit OP in the new MGoBlog?
Good for you! 50 y.o myself and it's been something I've wanted to do for a long time. You'll have to report back.
Second the request for an after action report.
This format makes tracking down the burner account - "Ghost Of (you name here)" and the like - a little more difficult, to say the least.

Good luck, man. I am definitely not free-spirited / love your neighbor / give me more ketamine / what is money enough for that and would be miserable after a day or so -- but sounds like you have a passion and plan!
Am I old/not hip if I thought this was in reference to smoking weed?
not at all -- I thought so as well until i read he was talking about burning man.
Totally. Even though I put it in the "other" category, as soon as clicked submit I realized I forgot the OT. I see we can no longer edit OP, huh.
I was kind of hoping it was. Need to find a new hookup, and I'm much too old to walk around the local college looking for the kid in tie dye and a backpack.
Medical marijuana card + weed maps app + delivery culture = a brave new world that the college aged me could have only dreamed about
REEFER MADNESS!!
Think it makes you more hip, but I think the kidd say "swag" these days

Gross
If you're gonna be disparaging, at least be funny about it. You know what's gross? Your snotty nose is fucking gross.
Tom, do you enjoy being the board jerk off? That’s how you come off.
This board would be better if you weren't here.
Disagree. I’m not the one acting like a jerk to everyone. I may be a little weird, but I’m harmless. You are harmful to everyone including yourself.
I better get the bubble wrap out and protect myself...from myself. Never realized i'm so harmful.
Good for you man. Should be a life changing experience. Post about it when you get back!
Uhh.....why..... you got some?
O..wait ...that dessert thing; cool .....good luck with that.
No just watch it on youtube or something
I went to a small regional burn in central Texas when I lived in Austin. It was... Weird. Really weird. Sometimes a good weird. Sometimes... Not.
I go to a lot of camping music festivals, so I thought I had seen how weird people can be... I was unprepared.
I hope you have fun! Bring a good mug you can clip to your belt. It seemed like everyone was giving out booze, but no disposable cups, cause duh.
And don't die.
Can't just drop that here. Need way more details on what you saw. It's summer. I'm bored. Shock me.
Bring a wig and wear it. You'll be grateful not to have all the crap and sand in your hair. You won't be able to talk a shower.
Happy random drug test on monday
Stay hydrated. I have many friends who go, but this for me violates my personal no camping policy.
Don't die.
This seems to be a common message. I'm curious if people actually do die (other than the ones that run into the burning man like that guy did a couple? years ago). I have a lot of friends that go and love it, but I feel like I would want to die while there. Scorching hot. Dry. Probably way too much substance abuse. Camping. No thanks on all of that.
Having attended Cal Jam 2 in 1978 I think, it can be wild. We were with 350,000 people and you couldn't get food or a port a potty with out at least a 4 hour wait. At least 1 death. concert was one day we were stuck for 3. It was fun but wouldn't do it again.
California world music festival in LA was a 2 day fest run right with a lot of crazy stuff going on, would do kit again in a minute. Have a blast.
People do die, way more in the early years when there were way fewer rules.
The first year I went some people who had put up their tent way out on the playa in the middle of nowhere got run over by a big art car/truck that was tooling around on the playa late at night.
Lots of accidents and injuries, the drive in/out on the highway can be perilous as some begin the party on the trip to or continue it on the way out.
I googled this. Read about it. I’m still confused.
Too busy at the cremation of care here at the bohemian grove.
It is 100% on my bucket list. As soon as my kids are a bit older, I am there. I'll look you up then.
I am not going but I hope you have a good time!
I thought you were talking about trees...then again they will be smoking a lot of gas at Burning Man.
WASPs with too much disposable income might have taken over Burning Man, but there is no way they can buy rights to the term "burner." A burner is someone who gets stoned, a lot. Stop f*cking appropriating.
Now where are muy f*cking doritos?
Ohh that kind of burner. Never mind....
just be wary of the large amount of people and the not large amount of porta-potties...
One step from being in deep shit.
