So be it.

I didn't notice that he did anything here worth note.

Devin Bush Sr needs to get promoted, he can bring in some dogs, which is what we need.

Harbaugh is hiring lots of young, up and coming coaches.  Unless Michigan goes the co-coordinator route, there are only so many things you can do for someone that wants to keep moving up to greater opportunities.

Almost all top programs have a few assistants leave each year.  It means other programs actually want them.  You see anyone bailing from the MSU coaching staff the last couple years?  No, because nobody wants them.

New realities, guys - there is more churn these days across CFB, both in coaching staffs and players with new transfer rules.  You want top assistants that can recruit and coach? They're going to get poached.  You want 4 and 5 star guys on your team?  They're not going to redshirt and wait around for 3 years to play.

Just to lend depth to the alabama example:

"In the last three seasons, Alabama hired 20 assistant coaches from outside the program (five of whom had previous experience working at Alabama), while Saban hired just 15 new assistants from outside the program in the eight seasons from 2008 to 2015 (four of whom had previous experience at Alabama)."

So not a lot of turnover for a bit, followed by a ton.

It is almost 100% because you don't follow other teams closely.  Why would a safety coach from another top program moving (for example) to be DC at a low P5/high G5 team be news to you unless you're on their message boards?

Clemson has been an exception as of late and has seen almost a crazy lack of attrition given their success.  On the other hand, as another poster already noted, Alabama has tons of coaching turnover year in and year out.

I don't seem to hear a lot about assistants from Clemson/Georgia/OSU for example leaving with the same regularity as ours

OSU last year...Zach Smith out Brian Hartline in, Urban out Day in, Greg Schiano out Greg Mattison in, Billy Davis out Al Washington in.  I'm sure there were more.  This year Jeff Hafley and Mike Yurich are already out and they don't have replacements yet.

The counterpoint: just as kids want to go to a school that prepares them for the NFL, young coaches want to work for a program that helps them land DC/OC jobs in a few years. So it's actually good for Harbaugh's ability to attract other young coaches that his staff keeps getting hired for DC jobs elsewhere. DCs make huge money nowadays at Power 5 schools. You're talking about taking a young guy coaching HS somewhere and helping him become a multimillionaire in a few years. Harbaugh has shown a really sharp eye for up-and-coming coaches. Sucks to lose good people, but I have confidence that Harbaugh can find others.

Didn’t you used to be able to write off season tickets? In that case one could say: I could no longer write off my expenses towards a 4th or 5th or where ever Michigan finished in the Big Ten. This decreased my tax return.

But in all seriousness 5 years in...

Jim Harbaugh - ?‍♂️ he’s better than Hoke - ?‍♂️

Hasn’t this been expected?

Good for coach Campanile. Really, good for both programs, if we have someone in place/in our target to hire.

Can Michigan and Boston College just share coaches?  Like, they can just be "community coaches" for the two schools and each can just use which ever coach they need if he is not being used by the other that weekend.

Brief tenure here but not surprising given all the turnover at places like Rutgers and BC. Best of luck to him. Harbaugh better hire some lights out recruiters and look for a defensive coach who could be an heir apparent to DB.

Good recruiters are often from the school they succeed at, check the rankings.  A Hart for RB, Jaybaugh to ST/Recruiting Coordinator and either Bush or Manning is solid.  Hart and Manning also "Get" Michigan.  Bush and Manning is great too, Jaybaugh is doing just fine with RBs in my opinion.

(Assistants on the rise being hired for higher profile positions at other schools is a good thing actually because it means Harbaugh is good at identifying coaches other schools want, actually.)

Boy, it's been a busy few days between Spanelis, Partridge, Ruiz, & now maybe Campanile.  We're still waiting on DPJ & Collins.  This is one of the busier weeks I can remember in recent years without a HCing change.

good for him.  coaching turnover is inevitable - unless youre msu.  obviously its preferable to see staffers moving on and up rather than the alternative so good to see.  losing talented coaches is a sign of a healthy program, and it falls to the boss to consistently replenish the ranks.

harbaugh has done a nice job of building his staffs though ill never fully understand the drevno situation or his misplaced loyalty.  hopefully jim and brown are able to replace these guys with talented up and comers as its vital to maintain that youthful energy in the building and on the recruiting trail.  need smart, aggressive coaches to challenge the ideas of more established staff members - keeps everyone growing, adapting, learning from each other.  clearly they want the best possible candidates but all else equal, go with potential rising stars

Drevno wasa loyal coach who followed him to the NFL.  Had they we beat OSU that second year or not lost on that MSU punt gaffe then things may be quite different right now.

But since then he couldn't overcome the midwest incestuous recruiting, having no contacts here, and couldn't get players.  As Vonnegut said...so it goes...  then going back west, couldn't recruit at USC...now this time he's eight years out from West coast college football again with no contacts.

This makes sense.  Anthony Campanile was co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Boston College in 2018 after coaching defensive backs there in 2016 and 2017.

Losing both Chris Partridge (former coach at Paramus Catholic, the school that sent Jabrill Peppers, Juwann Bushell-Beatty, Rashan Gary and Drew Singleton to Michigan) and Anthony Campanile (who played and coached high school football in Bergen County, NJ) also might indicate that the coaching staff will be moving on from trying to recruit from the northern New Jersey Catholic high school powerhouses and leaving Jordan Morant from Bergen Catholic HS as the final Michigan recruit for at least the next few years from Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco Prep, St. Joseph (Montvale), Paramus Catholic, St. Peter’s Prep and DePaul Catholic (the school that sent Michael Dwumfour and Kareem Walker to Michigan).

Having New Jersey natives Greg Schiano and Nunzio Campanile back at Rutgers and Jeff Hafley and Anthony Campanile at Boston College makes those schools somewhat more attractive than Michigan to the top-end northern New Jersey football players who might want to play closer to home.
