Another One: Name Your Top 3 Plays From The Past 3 Years

Submitted by MaizeBlueA2 on December 11th, 2023 at 9:45 PM

Another random bowl season layoff question for the board.

Before I asked for your top 3 non-OSU related (and non-'23/'24 CFP) games from the past 3 years. That conjured up some fun memories.  However, for the most part that one was pretty obvious.

Since ESPN sucks, I won't ask for the SportsCenter Top 10, #SCTop10 moments...but just your MGo3 from the last 3 years.

And once again, OSU games are ineligible (this way we get more than "O-JA-BO!" and the Haskins Hurdle, "got a WIIIDE open receiver" and "DONOVAN EDWAAARDS, WHOA! CAN THEY CATCH HIM? NO!" and "FIIIIIIRES............INTERCEPTED!!!")

So excluding the OSU games, what have been your top 3 plays from the past 3 years?  Interpret it how you wish (spectacular vs. impact/moment vs. creativity).

1. Roman Wilson's TD catch against Nebraska this year was the coolest (albeit inconsequential because of the mauling)

2. 2021 Erick All Penn State TD was an all timer. Sucks it didn't work out for him to finish his career at Michigan

3. Dax Hill breaking Graham Mertz's ribs on a blitz @2021 Wisconsin was a moment that stuck out to me for a while.

1. BC TD right after Zinter was injured.

2. 32 rushes against PSU this year in the second half.

3. FG against Illinois last year. With all that happened and OSU looming, the team gut it out and Moody was money.

1. Erick All’s winning TD @ Penn St 2021

2. Hassan Haskins Hurdle & Brad Hawkins strip vs Nebraska 2021

3. Blake Corum’s dagger TD vs Penn St 2023

HM: Jake Moody’s Game-winning FG vs Illinois.

Special Mention: JJ’s runaround cross field bomb to Daylen Baldwin vs WMU in ‘21. We hoped it was a sign of things to come, and boy was it that and more.

Best play in a loss: “Anthony! Andrel Anthony!! 93 yards like THAT”

1. Hassan haskins hurdling a fool

2. Blake Corum flashing 65 after the touchdown

3. Not a play, but an image. Sad Ryan Day walking up the Michigan stadium tunnel.

edit: I really don’t remember plays from non OSU games.

Pick any three post games where they are going to interview Harbaugh, and instead of enjoying the spotlight for himself, he hands off to one of the kids, who's interests he places ahead of his own.

  • JJ's downfield block for Corum in the 2021 B1G CG
  • The Will Johnson Has Arrived pick against Purdue in the 2022 B1G CG
  • Jake Moody hits his fourth field goal with nine seconds left to put away Illinois after Corum's injury

I decided to leave out the Big Ten Championship games in addition to OSU.

1. Erick All 47-yd TD catch and run at PSU 2021

2. Brad Hawkins forced fumble, recovery, and return at Nebraska 2021

3. Isaiah Gash 8-yd reception on 4th-and-3 vs Illinois 2022

Honorable mention:

Blake Corum 30-yd TD run at PSU 2023

Mike Sainristil INT for TD vs Rutgers; Mike Sainristil INT at Maryland 2023

Blake Corum 33-yd TD run on 4th-and-1 vs Maryland 2022

No particular order:

Haskins hurdles Nebraska defender, Edwards to Wilson HB pass against Iowa, Isaiah Gash clutch catch versus Illinois in 2022.

Gash’s key catch on 4th and 3 kept our undefeated regular season alive in 2022. Not to mention, there’s no guarantee Michigan beats OSU if he doesn’t catch that. Imagine how freaking deflated Michigan is if they lose to Illinois after losing Corum.

Just to be clear, if OSU plays were permitted, my #1 overall from the last three years is none of those mentioned in the O.P.

It's my not-at-all humble opinion that the current winning streak was built on the foundation of the Josh Ross TFL of Henderson on 3rd&2 to end OSU's opening drive of the 2nd half in 2021.

At that point, it was still a 1-point game. Afterwards, Michigan went up by 8 and, despite my inescapable anxiety in real-time, the gift of hindsight reveals that the win was truly never under threat again.

Agree that, if OSU games were allowed, the OP misses the mark on at least one of the three.

Your #1 is a great one, but my #1 has to be the OSU defense just quitting the game and allowing Haskins to score the last TD in 2021.  The most Charmin-soft play I've ever seen in my life.  They weren't even willing to fight for an unlikely victory.
