Seriously, "article"???  Tyler Calvaruso and Yahoo Sports managed to "write" an "article" that is 6 sentences long, about college football team facilities and that involves 11 photos, 0 of which are of the team's training facilities.

Honestly, this level of bad is top notch. Bravo.

They "interviewed" less than 100 kids that played in the All-American Bowl.  I bet the vast majority of them were asked "who has the best facilities" and they just responded to the school where they will be playing.  Case in point:  Illinois got 1 vote.  Their stadium looks like something from a very large high school.

Notre Dame - in the middle of a wind swept desolate farm country - has the "third best facilities"?  Kid's don't look just at the gym when making their choice.  Facilities also included best night life.

Air Force? Purdue? Hmmm....I'm gonna guess the people who voted for those places weren't recruited by (and therefore never saw) the higher ranked schools on this list.

Indiana - “high school stadium in a cornfield”.  WTF - you’ve clearly never been to Bloomington.  Tailgating on the GRASS fields south of the stadium is great and the stadium is in the city.   I don’t remember seeing a corn field anywhere close to there

high probability that they don’t have the best facilities (John Mellencamp field House < Al Glick’s) but C’mon man!

All a bit messy and unscientific, and I know from living in Tallahassee and watching FSU struggle to figure it out that things like TVs in toilets. . . may impress young men more than lavish historical displays (which Michigan will be good at). I remember visiting the Allen Fieldhouse for a basketball game at U Kansas and being wowed while my daughter yawned. . .

But hopefully, while students are sleeping in their cars cuz they can't afford rent (as some of my wife's students definitely ARE), we do not lose sight of reality completely.

This is based on interviewing participants at the All-American Bowl.

  1. Oregon - 12 votes
  2. Georgia - 11
  3. ND - 9
  4. Alabama - 8
  5. OSU & Clemson - 6
  6. Michigan - 4
  7. LSU, Oklahoma, PSU, Texas, Texas A&M - 3
  8. A bunch of others with 2 or 1.

Seems like the top 4 stand out and then it flattens out pretty quick. Not a lot of surprises on this list.

not a bad post - but id say that being in 7th behind the usual "winners" - bama, clemson, osu - isnt good enough. We were ranked 3 at the end of this year and we saw how FAR we were from 1 and 2. So, yes, its not on field results, but id say being in 7th isnt enough for those that want to get to 1 and 2.

Merely unreliable speculation. It's likely that most of the small sample size have even seen a significant number of facilities.
