if Iowa is able to beat MSU next week (at home) and UM tackles Nebraska (wishful thinking perhaps), it's still right back in the mix.
i'm still kinda baffled by the negativity of everyone (not the OP) as of late... 7-2 is a great record IMO (yah i know BUTTHISISMICHIGAN!) and i think Illinois is very winnable, as is OSU. 9-3 would be an epic win for this staff - yeah we could have played better and beaten Iowa but i think it's a bit much to get into FIRE BORGES mode

Iowa win is possible vs MSU.
But: An Iowa win vs sparty AND an Iowa win vs Nebraska AND Michigan beating Nebraska AND OSU AND Illinois is less likely.
but I still have Hoke..

I'm with you Geaux. People either need to drink less or drink more and think less.

the division winning scenarios, this is not a division winning Michigan team.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:04 PM ^
Maybe not, but who in the Legends division is? An MSU team that almost lost to Minnesota today? An Iowa team that did lose to Minn? A Nebraska team that is losing to Northwestern?
November 5th, 2011 at 6:13 PM ^
MSU is (probably) about to be a game up on everyone with Nebraska losing in the 4th. Their remaining schedule is Iowa, IU and NW.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
Yeah, but those roadtrips to Iowa and NW are not gimmes.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
*If we beat Nebraska, Nebraska beats Iowa, and Iowa beats State. This would be a huge cluster-f*ck in the division.
Assuming NW hangs on here.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
At this point, Michigan either needs to win the division outright or finish in a 2-way tie with Nebraska, having beaten them. They lose the tiebreak in every other scenario, either because of head-to-head or because Nebraska has a better divisional record.
So Iowa needs to lose one more and MSU needs to lose two while M wins out.
November 5th, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
Not impossible. MSU usually struggles at Iowa, and they could slip up at NW. Neb can beat Iowa.
The biggest problem is can Michigan really win out? It would be a miracle just for that to happen.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
Wow, NW just might take out Nebrasky. Up 20-10 right now with 12 min. left in the 4th quarter.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
Been a Coach Fitz fan for a while. Would make NW's season to win this game. Would also love to see Nebraska taken down a peg before they come to A^2.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:12 PM ^
So what happens in the Legends if Nebraska loses? State and Iowa would control their own destinies I guess.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:19 PM ^
Is it safe to come out now?
November 5th, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
I think you may have to avoid the occasional jumper.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
That's just flamboyant. I made my self a warm bath with candles and razor blades for after the lsu game.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:19 PM ^
PI Call. What is that?
November 5th, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
Something only called west of the Mississippi.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
Looked like Martinez flirted with being over the line of scrimmage. His back foot may have been behind the line though. They are concentrating on pilongate right now, so that will get overlooked.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
Have you seen The Rum Diary?
November 5th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
Saw it last night. I was very pleased. Laughed my ass off at parts and thought it gave a good look into hst's inner mind before he was a big author.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:37 PM ^
It's getting mixed reviews so I will probably love it. Northwestern is about to put Neb to bed.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:32 PM ^
NW just might do it. Take the points here, Fitz.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
And teach some clock management. This is embarrassing, this business of saving your timeouts for your offense while the other guys run out the clock.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:42 PM ^
Touchdown Norhtwestern. That should do it. Two upsets by Northwestern and Iowa today give control of the division back to Sparty.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
Man, the more I watch Nebraska the less impressed I am. How they curb-stomped MSU is beyond me; I'm sure they'll play great against UM, but ugh.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
Does every team in the B10 suck?
November 5th, 2011 at 6:45 PM ^
Looks to be so.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
This Nebraska game gives me small hope that we can still go 10-2.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
We'll drop at least one more game this year. I just hope it isn't against tsio.
Illinois is off this week, they'll have 2 weeks to get ready for us.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
If Zook has more time to put his stamp on the gameplan, is that a good thing?
November 5th, 2011 at 7:08 PM ^
Ha! Yeah now that I think about it I'm getting more confident about next week!
November 5th, 2011 at 6:45 PM ^
NW just got the big victory they've been waiting for.
The B1G is just beating each other up.
November 5th, 2011 at 6:57 PM ^
All right lets regroup! Nebraska is likely lose to NW and we gotta root for Iowa to beat State next week. Then the last 2 weeks will be determine it all. Go Blue! We will determine how good this season will be in how we finish this season.
November 5th, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
State needs to lose twice though.
November 5th, 2011 at 7:03 PM ^
Everyone assumed the three way tie would be Michigan, Nebraska, State. Well now the three way tie would be Michigan, Iowa, State all with 2 conference losses. If State loses to Iowa and Michigan wins out then we would hold the tie breaker: Overall Record. 10-2 vs 9-3 and 9-3.
November 5th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
Nah, because State holds the Legends division tiebreaker in that case.
edit - nvm...
November 5th, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
Unfortunately, like people have been saying for the last 2 weeks, the tie breaker isn't overall record. Iowa would win in this scenario because they would've went 2-0 against us and State.

Great to see NU (YTNU) spring the upset on NU (NTNU). Id love someone to ask Husker coaches or players -- and get an honest answer -- if the B1G is harder or deeper than the BigXII. Huskers were supposed to be better than last year but their results sure didnt look that way. Lost at home to Northwestern? Did they ever kose at home recently to Iowa St or KU?
November 5th, 2011 at 7:13 PM ^
and the b1g is terrible this year.
November 5th, 2011 at 7:47 PM ^
I can't recall the details but I think Nebraska had a streak of some 30 games won at home.
