A lot of good ones.

Afternoon games open thread
I just want to see the "Hire Harbaugh" crowd to take a hit. Plus, whenever Saban loses the taste is oh so sweet.
EDIT: It also looks like UAB might pull out a comeback win over Tennesee.
i hate gary danielson
also, did anyone see the sideline reporter on cbs? MOLEY MOLEY MOLEY.
I wanna see some Boom Malletted today so badly.
just got your wish.
is enjoyable. All though apparently their FG kicking is about on par with ours.
Go Stanford. I don't care about the strength of schedule shit today. I just enjoy watching ND lose.
UAB going to try a FG for a 3pt lead with 43 sec left....
missed!
BOOM MALLETTED.
That was fast.
but..but...but Saban is a Defensive genius!
He does get pretty defensive if you ask, "Hey Nicky, how many 18 year olds did you lie to today?"
Is going to shock the world.
Pryor picking up junk MAC yards...wait make that a TD...
Ron English has some tricks up his sleeve, such as the use of Voodoo related dolls.
By what, possibly attaining 3 1st downs in the 1st half??
Dayne Crist is getting popped every play on NDs first drive
even on that non-call with the offsides! if this keeps up he won't be able to see out of either eye
It's shitty that Mayock basically called that Stanford player dirty when the officials didn't call that offsides (and I think it might not have been).
edit: definitely wasn't offsides. i did frame-by-frame on dvr. i hate nbc's coverage.
Temple scores a TD after a Penn State turnover.
I just hate everything about Notre Dame and want them to crash and burn this season.
Go Stanford.
I hate ND, but I'm getting tired of hearing about Harbaugh all the time.
But that's something that will go away with winning. Notre Dame has always been one of my most hated teams and seeing them struggle makes me smile.
what does that say about our victory? Don't make me nervous.
From an emotional point of view, Notre Dame may be a bit down now, too. After losing two games in the last seconds, they have to be feeling terrible.
Is worse than ours.
It is painful to me that this is something that cannot be simply assumed this year.
These SEC Network announcers are fairly blatant with their homerism, so here's hoping UAB puts it home
At least UAB's kicker finally put one in!
EDIT: Two in a row, tho UAb shoulda put that in for a TD being so close
UT pulls it out. Such a deep conference they have....
Somebody queue up Yakety Sax for the EMU/OSU game. It's going to get ugly.
The refs in the Stanford/ND game have been miserable so far.
I'm pretty sure Stanford just got that first down. The NBC idiot commentators are incredulous.
I didn't figure ND's defense could hold them here...and I was right. That drive was Umass-esque
Stanford goes up 7-3. I really enjoy their offense for some reason, and I'm not sure why.
They've had no problems on offense so far against PSU.
Golden is a solid coach. I certainly hope he takes a job next that is far, far away from the Big Ten.
Funny that CBS doesn't have the 1st down line working.
What's the opinion on Temple winning? I'm tempted to root for PSU just so the Big Ten doesn't look extremely weak, but Temple winning might shut up some of those "OMG MICHIGAN'S WIN OVER UCONN MEANS NOTHING SINCE UCONN LOST TO TEMPLE!" comments. Hoping for a good game.
Even though Temple appears to be on the up and up, I think a win over PSU would bode well for Michigan. I still have Michigan winning that one.
You can still the "old" Mallet deep inside the new one.
Mallett needs to learn to throw a ball under 80 mph sometime.
I remeber being impressed with him when he came in for Henne during the Oregon game, but dude threw some lasers.
UCLA about to go up on Texas
Ark's secondary is not so good.
Julio Jones is also incredibly talented. But yes, a few members of their secondary learning to tackle might have brought back that long Bama touchdown.
Holy cow, a holding call against Notre Dame? No ways.
I know this was said by someone up thread but Gary Danielson is a dong punch to my soul. Was he always this bad? I remember liking him when he did games for ABC.
I could never stand Danielson no matter where I heard the guy...on ABC he compared every good Qb to Drew Brees and it got annoying real fast.
During his CBS run he has become a complete and utter ess eee see slappie. I still remember the 06 ess eee see title game and he compared schedules of Michigan/Florida and he said with conviction that 1-AA Western Carolina was better than MAC Champ CMU that year.
Ever since that statement I cant take anything the guy says remotely seriously.
He sounds like he's lecturing his audience every time he talks, he just sounds condescending.
Tacopants clearly transferred to arkansas.
I'm accustomed to seeing.
Buckeyes rushing offense is bad. Wow. EMU has not won in 15 games and they can't run the ball.
If Stanford rolls it's kind of like Michigan's JV team winning too. We're so good we have one of the best coaches in the country as our backup plan; it's like having Denard and Tate together.
ND's secondary is making Luck look like a Heisman trophy candidate. He cannot miss on 3rd down.
Ha! Trading endzone INT's in Fayetteville.
Ruh-Roh! Could it be, 'Bama and Texas on upset alert?
look at the historic programs who are down. Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, and Penn State. I wonder when the last time all four of those lost in the same day before.
I'm typically very pro-Big 10, but I can't help being thrilled at how awful Purdue looked and how vulnerable Penn State looks. Wins are wins, and Michigan needs lots of them. Thoughts?
Purdue and PSU and their fans sure didn't have any qualms about putting the W in their records when they've played our weak teams the past few years.
Penn State's offense looks like Michigan's last year after Forcier was injured.
If Alabama's Offense was half as good as pundits thought they'd be killing Ark. There's still a half to go, but it's not like Ark is some defensive monster.
Brian Kelly is in shock, he didn't know you could kick a FG at the end of the half instead of throwing it out of the end zone.
SHHHHHH!!!!! I told Rodriguez that field goals were illegal, and I don't want him to figure it out.
Hopefully BSU Alabama and Texas all lose.
The more chaos the better.
The SEC's digital network rocks, but not as much as the five TV channels the Big 10 has on my cable system in SoCal. HAHA!!
LMAO UCLA up 19-3pending XP
Lose Texas LOSE
Stanford is making Te'o look like Ezeh.
Te'o is a good athlete, but he overcommits to everything. A counter based team like Stanford will eat him alive until he learns discipline.
I'm depressed watching this Stanford kicker dominate..
Mallet is looking good right now and Arkansas is playing tough, but this Alabama offense is just not that impressive. I never thought of the SEC as a great offensive conference, though, so maybe this shouldn't come as a surprise.
near the end of the third quarter...
sorry to all. Posted the Mallet question to another thread (even though I think it belongs there...).
Arkansas is the perfect team to expose the young defensive seconday of Alabama. The Crimson Tide will still excel, but it's a good matchup for the Razorbacks.
Now, for UCLA beating Texas...I can't explain that...
Stanford's got three turnovers and is still up 13 on the road. They're a good team.
Damefan1 AND Lou Holthhz both told me ND was going to be hella good this year. What gives? 1-3? Kelly fucking sucks brah.
Arkansas' D needs to step it up big time on this next drive.
I have little faith in them. I think Mallet is going to have to save the day.
Still can't believe my eyes. UCLA is thwamped by 35 to Stanford yet has no problem going on the road and taking it to Texas? Stanford looks damn good. Also, NBC had a nice short on Jim Harbaugh's first phone call from Bo when he got the job at San Diego.
The suck from Arkansas' D can be heard around the world. They just played way over their heads in the 1st half. If they hold Bama to a FG here that would be a miracle.
Mallett became a nightmare.
Too bad Tacopants let that go through his hands. Totally not Mallet's fault. Hope it doesn't hurt his Heisman chances.
Mallett still shows that tendency to force a throw or two....Looks like Mallett is gonna get one chance to drive them down for the win unless McElroy continues to stand in the pocket with no presence and get rocked and fumbles one.
Hoping he can make a couple play on this drive.
Shit the bed Mallet....make a comeback now = Super Heisman talk.
taking them down for a winning td against one of the best defenses in the country. I say 3:1. Any takers? Mgopoints on the line.
I was sad when Weis was fired, because he made it so much fun to hate Notre Dame. But, turns out it's still really fun to cheer against Kelly and Notre Dame. Good to learn.
I guess I have to say something besides the subject line. Ooops.
EDIT: That was referring to Mallett's late interception, not ND issue.
Jeez Mallett....that big of an arm and it's not 10 rows deep is unexcuseable for that.
Terrible Terrible decision by Ryan there, I feel bad for the kid.
I will take a mobile QB over a pocket passer every day of the week and twice on Sunday's. Hate to say it, but RR was right not to cater his offense to Mallett.
IMO, the biggest shock of the day is that EMU somehow scored 20 points against OSU. How is that possible?
I think UCLA beating Texas in Austin is the shock of the day.
I am legitimately less surprised by that as I am by an 0-4 EMU team scoring more on the OSU defense than any of its other opponents (Miami's special teams scored 14 of their 24).
I actually thought Texas was ripe for the upset. Their offense has been out of synch this year.
I suppose I will root for S. Carolina on the theory that an Auburn loss helps us with Dee Hart.
By Cincinnati
Did I just hear that right, Marge Schott Stadium?! Damn, does Cincy have a Hitler Hall too?
Patrick Peterson (LSU CB) just struck the pose after a punt return for a touchdown.
1. Isn't it way too early for that (Plus it was planned, which is far less awesome than Denard's natural pose)
2. Who does he think he is?
Every time you think Boise is going to shit down this game, OSU pulls out something to keep themselves alive. They are certainly being helped by the amount of penalties being called on Boise.
I missed the hit on James Rodgers, but from the sounds of it, he got rocked and is out for the game.
So, Musberger was talking about how the blue field became blue. Then he had to ask what the field would look like if it was green like other fields. My first thought was; well, its pretty f-ing simple, Brent. It would look like every other freaking football field... THEN, they even had to have the guys in the "truck" manipulate the picture color to make the damned blue field green.
Anyone else seen the movie Idiocracy?
Les Miles vs. Bill Stewart. Which team's crappy coach hurts them the least?
Oy Vey.
Now I see Minnesota is losing to NIU in the 4th, at home.
Yeah. Minnesota is easily the worst team in the Big Ten. Fight win bleh.
At least the B10 network's on field microphones are really good. Just heard a Minny player trashtalking a guy on NIU's O line, "Oh, hey man, how's your girlfriend..."
Not only that, but their B10 summary of the day also says both Denard and Tate left the game today with knee injuries. Guess noone else actually watched the game.
On FSN, there's a good one between Oregon and Arizona State. Threet & Co. are ahead 24-21 late in the first half.
