I miss him too. He and Mike Gottfried made the best pair on television outside of Griese+KJ. You'll never hear another announcer like him again as he was one of the few remaining guys on Disney who made the game the attraction, and not himself.
We may actually escape Pam Ward this season. She broadcasted the past two matchups against Indiana. Since we don't play Indiana this year maybe, just maybe, we can avoid her.
We might get Beth Mowins instead.
I'm painfully trying to remember other games she broadcast for us other than those 2 against Indiana. She did the 49-3 win over Sparty in 02 and the 21-14 win over Wisconsin a couple weeks later but I can't remember any others. That's quite a gap from 02 to 09. Maybe it can happen again.
By the way, who is Beth Mowins?
Besides CFB, you might recall her from ESPN's 2011 WWC coverage, NCAA men’s and women's basketball, NCAA softball, soccer, tennis and volleyball, USA Softball, WNBA, and NBA on ESPN Radio.
She graduated college in 1989, so I will give her the benefit of the doubt.
The thing that scares me is that she's never called a football game. You'd think ESPN could find experienced play-by-play people.
...correct. She's called CFB on ESPN since 2005.
She also did the glorious win over Minnehaha in 2008. She may have also done the NfW game that year, but I can't remember.
A meh, forgettable sideline reporter from the ESPN plus days.
I actually like Millen on TV (I can separate him as announcer with him as GM), with McDonough. I think McDonough elevates Millen. That's their best team, easily. Patrick/James is the team of DEATH.
