4* CB recruit Aaron Scott seen sporting Michigan cleats

4* CB Aaron Scott, recently rated by On3 as the top prospect in the state of Ohio, was seen at a Dayton area 7 on 7 event yesterday wearing Michigan cleats.

Scott is a reportedly choosing between Michigan and Ohio State and has scheduled his annoucement for July 30th. Scott has widely been considered a Buckeye lean.

Could mean nothing; could be an epic troll of the good guys; but it was enough to cause some concern in Buckeye land:

I am not getting my hopes up considering the well known circumstances of announcing on his dad's birthday - but I wouldn't say he is trolling, probably just really nice cleats.

This would only be trolling if he went out of his way to post something on social media and then still picked OSU.

He was also wearing Michigan gloves and a Michigan sleeve, with the hat mentioned below.

Plus the Nuts added another corner from Arizona in the past week or so giving them 2 already in the class.

Apparently, they didn't throw much Scott's way during the 7 on 7, which speaks to how much they respect his top 50 talent.  He did get one pick when they did.

He also said he's still undecided and that he hopes he wakes up one day and the choice is obvious for him.  Like he said before, his head is saying one thing and his heart the other.  I think he wants to come here but doesn't want to disappoint his family.

Someone also said his dad is coming around to the idea of Michigan.

He also said player development is key for him.  If so, I still like our chances.

I think if Charles would offer to give him some personal instruction if he commits to the good guys, that could seal the deal.  How about it #2?

Look at Michigan’s track record for situations like this…

Prospect from Ohio, won an NC at Michigan, won the Heisman, brilliant NFL career, Super Bowl ring, NFL Rookie of the Year, NFL Player of the Year, NFL all decade ream, NFL Hall of Fame, and now - commentator for very special occasions - who gives back to his community.

Yeah, another example of Michigan’s talent development.

Not sure Miles Lockhart committing would have a huge impact on Aaron Scott. The coaches and Lockhart, himself, plan to play the slot corner role. The Buckeyes still expect to recruit two true outside corners for a total of 3 CBs this class.

I still think Michigan is still solidly in the race for Aaron Scott, but nothing points to Lockhart’s commitment as a deciding factor in it.

Point taken.  But I remember hearing Nut podcasters commenting on his OV to Columbus and asking other visitors to read his reactions.  They said Scott was a little withdrawn.  They tried to get him to engage more and let his guard down and he never did.

It sounds like he's getting badgered relentlessly from all sides.  Like other commits have said, this is one decision that you have to be selfish and decide where you are going to be happiest and where you believe you will be fully developed as a player to maximize your potential as you prepare to play on Sundays.

Hmm...

Ravens Pro-style defense vs. Big 12 college defense

Coach Herb vs. ???

Coach Clink vs. ???

42-27

45-23

And it was the difference in DB play between the two teams.  Michigan was making plays all over the field, like Mikey's PBU's in the end zone.  When the Nuts DB's weren't missing tackles, they were blowing coverages to our wide-open receivers.

The huge difference in cornerback player development could not be more obvious.

Let's all hope young Mr. Scott chooses wisely, and makes the best decision for himself and his career.

If the Michigan shoes match his uniform, then so do the gloves and sleeve… I think we’re just desperate for information and we’re trying to make something out of nothing here.

Recruiting gets creepy when we’re desperately looking for clues in what clothes/accessories a 16-17 year old kid is wearing.

He also said player development is key for him

Sam Webb has saying a lot that Scott has made an emphasis on saying he wishes The Game was the first game of the season because he wants to see if the changes OSU claims to be making on defense will actually happen or if it's just lip service. It seems Scott doesn't trust that the OSU staff will make those changes and currently feels more comfortable with Michigan's scheme and development. It really seems like it's head (Michigan) vs heart (OSU) right now. And sadly for us, I've found in life that heart usually wins out

Feels like trolling, really.

Apropos of nothing: our rivals' insistence on referring to Michigan as "TTUN" or "scUM" will forever remain the funniest and most childish taunts to me. Boy, you really got us, hurts so bad when you call our coach "Harblow".

I’d rather he just go to UM at this point. If you wanna play UM/Alabama or OSU/UGA games go ahead and get your bag. But if you’re even gonna wear UM gear to drum up suspense for your commitment, just go to my rival. I want guys that hate UM and wouldn’t even be seen in your guys’ colors. Respectfully, as I am the peaceful rival fan here. You guys do have the same colors as his high school, but the other stuff he’s doing is just off-putting for real fans.

PeacefulBuck,

I agree.  For years while UM was wandering in the wilderness our players and culture was that of a country club.  MSU's players and staff were beating UM's ass on the field due to UM's sense of entitlement -not to mentions shit coaching.

It does feel like OSU has become a bit of a paper tiger (not sinking nearly to the depths of UM when wandering in the wilderness), but often underperforming when facing teams not completely bereft of talent) over the past 5 years.  Day is still light years better at HC than RR or Hoke, but Meyer, while a sociopath, seemed to have more physical teams.

Given the recruiting and talent at OSU, I unfortunately doubt this continues, but UM making inroads into Ohio with players that would have been untouchable just 5 years ago, does remind me of Sparty starting to pick off top Michigan recruits and even a few Ohio guys when Dontaniniorio was on his run.

It is possible he likes both schools and thinks our gear is cool enough to wear to practice.  Additionally, it matches his practice gear.

I remember the excitement when Terrelle Pryor was spotted wearing a Michigan sweater. Means nothing. If I were a heavily recruited football player, I would lead OSU to believe I was choosing them all the way until the day I  committed to the Wolverines.

Don’t do this to yourselves. The simplest explanation is oftentimes the right one. He may just like the cleats, they’re probably really nice cleats, they match the uniform he has to wear, etc.

I can’t fathom too many universes where he decides to give his dad, the man who raised him and a massive OSU fan, the ultimate “Fuck You” by committing to Michigan on the man’s birthday.

This is just a formality for OSU at this point.

Are they really singing 3 Will J. Type of corners?   No they are not.   They have 2 good CBs right now and maybe they will get a 3rd good CB.  Also Clink recruits all recruits not just secondary or CBs.   Clink is one of the better recruiters in College.   So the hate on Clink is just dumb.   OSU got a guy who was all OSu and no one thought we would have a chance.  Well we did but we lost out to a hometown kid going to his favorite school. We will get some good players and have some developing right now.

So the hate on Clink is just dumb

Is it? I feel like he's not getting enough flack. He's a great coach and overall recruiter, but right now, we're looking like we're going to strike out on literally every single CB target in this cycle and people somehow don't want to criticize that position coach at all?

Yes it is because first off we still have 5 PLUS MONTHS until signing day and the number of other recruits he has helped us get is amazing.  He is one of the best recruiters in college football.   We will be fine once signing day comes and we also have the portal.  Plus all our guys are young except for Mikey.   We almost flipped a guy who was 100% OSU and many others didn't even try for that reason.  Clinks is 9ne of the best hires Jim has made and if you want more proof go back to his Kentucky days.

I suspect that he's just wearing them while he still can.  Unless his father is warming up to Michigan, I don't see him coming up here.

These kids get gifted apparel and hardgoods all the time from programs that are recruiting them. Cool to see him rocking the home team cleats, but let's not get carried away here.

Top recruit is choosing between us and Ohio State, almost forgot it can also involve Alabama too. The recruit does things to make people think they are leaning towards Michigan. The B.P.O.N.E that lingers in my soul can't help but think that there's a playbook out there on how to get Ohio State or Bama boosters to pay more. But then again, soon to be high school seniors have never witnessed Ohio State beat Michigan in their high school career.

My guess is that we are third in this race. I think if he’s not feeling Ohio St, his father would settle for Oregon over Michigan. Ever since we landed Marshall and a few Ohio kids and it went all over social media, Ohio St has been on fire recruiting since that point and have especially made several high profile races as a OSU/Michigan battle and I believe that’s on purpose. I’d absolutely love to be wrong on this one.
