24 hours later and I just want to express a few things... Mostly football.

  • I’m very excited for Coach B and the B-Ball team to make a run.
  • Proud of “The Team” and what they accomplished this year.
  • Seniors did well. (Thanks Wino & Karan)
  • Proud of Harbaugh for beating some bigger name programs.
  • Wish habaugh could get over the OSU bump.
  • Wish we didn’t always feel sorry for the team.
  • Ohio State fans are awful & one day Umich will get revenge and it will be sooo sweet.

In in the future/ off season

• I Hope the DB’s and Patterson decide to comeback.

• I Hope UMich will reach out to Jedd Fisch.

Go Blue!

Patterson has no choice but to come back if he left now he’s probably not gonna get drafted ... I wish he would leave because McCaf seems to be the best suited QB for what we run

Marcus, stop being so salty and (1) lose some weight and (2) go find another job.

Patterson would be crazy to go this year. He has had a worse season than Rudddddock and look where he got drafted.

Yesterday's game made one thing painfully clear - the disparity in overall talent.

The problem wasn't scheme.  We don't have the talent to match OSU.  It's not Don Brown's fault that Watson doesn't have the speed to defend downfield.  Same the Devin Gil.  The problem isn't with crossing routes.  They have far more speed to spread around the field than we can hope to handle.  Period.

The problem wasn't scheme.  We don't have the talent to match OSU.

According to 247 OSU has the most talented roster in the nation.  However, USC has the #4 ranked team talent, Clemson is #6, and UM has #8.  USC can't play with OSU, but Clemson ranked behind them can from what I've seen.  The point is we have enough talent IMO, we just have some glaring holes at OT right now and personal matchups favored OSU.  If Barrett was playing this year I bet we would have beaten him.  And, if Uche, Ross, and Thomas with far more speed repped all year for this they would have fared better than Gill and Watson.  The only acceptable reason to believe that Gary & Winovich can't get a pass rush was questionable health.  One can get doubled, but not both.  Moving forward, our recruiting class is doing well and the holes will eventually get filled in if they continue to recruit at this level.

Roster has the talent now to beat OSU.  Really until JH gets over the hump and shows that he can beat OSU and make  it into the playoff, rising above the no.8 overall roster won't happen anyway.

Why the blowout?  Much more a failure to use the roster talent in the right way than a lack of roster talent.

I disagree.  The 2018 class (#20) is the outlier amongst the others (#6 in '16, #6 in '17, #3 in '18 on ESPN).  Assuming his classes are more like the others as time goes on it will improve.

2015:

MSU 17 OSU 14

2017:

Iowa 55 OSU 24

2018:

Purdue 49 OSU 20

Gosh, the rationale this board makes for losing to OSU 16 out of the last 18 is insufferable. Get the fucking job done. The staff and players don't like the pressure to beat your arch rival more than once a presidential term? Go to NC State or Colorado.

You’re very wrong.

Brown's scheme got raped, and better recruits wouldn’t have helped that in any meaningful way. You can’t run a scheme that require a lock down third DB who would be #1 most teams and then cry when it doesn’t work. OSU created mismatches and brown fucked up his counter.

Both him and Harbaugh did awful jobs and let their players down.

Yeah, I woke up and was still pretty bummed.

But honestly, I thought we would have no chance against Alabama. Sure I would have wanted to see it, but we are not at that level. I also don't think we would beat Georgia or Clemson. I think we could hang with ND and OSU (with some scheme changes), but they beat us.

So that puts us around No. 6 in the country, or somewhere in the 6-10. A top-10 team that goes 11-2 with a victory in a New Year's Six bowl game.

I didn't like the play calling, and we simply got outschemed by one of the best coaches in college football history against a team with some better talent.

But shit, this was a good, not great season. People calling this the end of UM football, or how this whole season is a failure, is a complete joke.

Uh, what bigger name programs did we beat? Oh you mean, big name programs (PSU, Wisconsin, MSU (?)). There's only one program in the conference that's a bigger name program than UM and that's OSU.

Also, Brian (maybe with the help of the Board if he so chooses) needs to figure out a way to get the short and stupid responses off the board. Some decent OPs are getting one word answers just trying to be first. Maybe voting or something. I probably shouldn't be posting anyway.

Also, I'm still very sad.

Feeling good is all about being on the positive side of expectations.  Going into the season if you told me we'd beat Wiscy, MSU, and PSU but lose to ND and OSU and go 10-2 I'd happily take that.  However, after going into the game with only a narrow lose to an undefeated team the first game of the year I had hopes of an OSU victory, a conference championship, and playoff berth.  After the dismantling OSU gave us that left me feeling disappointed.  However, after some time to reflect I come back to the idea that we had a pretty good season that exceeded expectations and while it's frustrating to have lost so bad to our bitter rival and how we feel so far away from ever beating them, it is only one game.  Next year will be a new year with a new opportunity to beat our rival again.

I'm guessing we'll drop back in the polls to the back half of the top 10.  I'm assuming OSU, Okla, UW, Clemson, and Bama win their conference championships making it Bama, Clemson, ND, and Okla in the playoffs.  That puts OSU in the Rose against UW.  We're probably getting into the Fiesta or Citrus vs Washing St, LSU, or UCF.  I think those are win-able matchups.  So, my hope is we can end the year with a bowl victory, finish with a strong recruiting class, get Patterson and at least one of the CBs to come back next year and have a bright outlook for '19.

24 hours later I’m still bummed. I think the game plan and execution of disappointing game plan was still poor.

That being said, 10-2 is still very good. If you had asked me before the season I would have said I’d take it. It’s only how yesterday went that crushes our souls. Harbaugh is better than anyone else we can get. I’m ok with one more year to best Urbz and his headaches.

Agreed. I’m very excited for the Basketball Season and I appreciate everything Winovich and Higdon has done for the program. Like most everyone on here I remember Higdon’s high school coach posting his interest in the program in a thread and watching it snowball to a commitment. I think it cost us Mike Weber, but I would absolutely take that trade again.

I wonder if the team just had a bad day, like OSU had versus Purdue or if they are just the better team? I live in Columbus and I talked a lot of trash last week, so tomorrow at work won’t be a lot of fun. I know I’m not alone in the overconfidence because it seemed like everyone on here knew we were going to win and it was just a matter of how much we would win by. A lot of people thought it would be over by the start of the fourth quarter and I was guilty in that assessment as well.

I’m hoping my co-workers will cut me some slack since they were agreeing that it would be a blowout, but they will probably be as insufferable as ever.

Still frustrated, but not as angry as I was yesterday. It sucks losing to these guys, they relish the opportunity to rub our face in it, and it sucks. Have to acknowledge - they played their best ball yesterday, and we simply did not.

Proud of the team for winning some big games and getting the program back on track. We're building, and think Harbaugh can get us to the summit of beating OSU.

Some changes need to be made, but we're getting there. This does not look like the same program under Hoke and Rich Rod.The tide is going to turn soon, and we'll get back to this being an actual rivalry. I believe these guys can do it.
