Just ordered this off of Amazon to hold me over until Bacon's book arrives. Had never heard of it until listening to the WTKA podcast earlier this week. Anyone read this one? How does it compare to other's like "Bo's Lasting Lessons"?

Year of Revenge II

Dude could have come up with a better title.

If nobody understands it, then what good is it?

Reminds me of my Dad, who I am visiting right now.  When Burt Smith voted for OSU to Rose Bowl in '73 I believe, my Dad was incensed to the point of action.  He actually printed up about 10,000 bumper stickers that said, "Burt Smith for Quarterback" which then had a big nail through it.

When I asked him, "What the hell does that mean?" he replied, "We are going to nail him!" Jesus.

He called the endeavor, "The Year of Revenge", and got a peddler's license to sell the bumper stickers (my little brother got drafted) outside of the stadium.  Needless to say, I don't think the numbers were very substantial.  I sure wish I had those bumper stickers though.  I think my little brother threw them away after about the third try.

The bumper sticker itself was mentioned in an article in "Sports Illustrated", the main sports outlet of the day.

My moniker here, YoR2 (Year of Revenge Part 2), is in honor of my Dad, and his dogged adherence to Michigan sports, especially Michigan football and basketball. The basement of his condo still looks like WD's bedroom.

So this got me thinking about the 10 best years for any coach in college history.

Bo's 1969 to 1978 run was spectacular -- 96-15-1 by my count.

Yost's 1901 - 1910 run was 78-6-6.

Knute Rockne's 1921 - 1930: 84-11-3.

But then I counted up Bud Wilkinson's Oklahoma teams 1949 - 1958: 107-7-1.  Whoa.

For a 10 year span, that's remarkable.  His worst season was 1951 at 8-2.

I'm trying to think of other coaches whose 10 year spans might approach that.

it chronicles so much of Michigan's history through stories and statistics. The MDen had a signing last night so I got to be Barry (the author) and hear a bit more about it. Im about half way through it so far and for any die hard fan it is a must read
