2023 RB Cole Cabana committing today at 2 p.m.

Dexter (MI) Dexter running back Cole Cabana is committing today at 2:00 p.m. EST. He's a 3-star, the #22 running back, and #362 overall. Despite growing up an MSU fan, he's expected to commit to Michigan. The Wolverines have all 10 of his crystal ball picks, including one with confidence level 9 from MSU writer Sean Scherer.

He recently ran a couple laser-timed 40s in the 4.3 range, so he's a true speed burner.

That he's a high IQ, gritty, gym rat, who will develop into a coach on the field by the time he's an upperclassmen. He's got great fundamentals and deceptive speed, despite that laser timed 4.3, but that just shows how sneaky athletic he is.

Also, I heard he's a gamer who plays the game the right way - a pure lunch pail guy with all the intangibles.

Zero to 60 in about 5 steps. He runs like the wind on some plays. He looks a little slender to be a RB in the BIG10. But he's got good hands. Seems he'd be an awesome Slot receiver! Hard to cover that speed in the slot.

Just a little reminder, this guy gutted the best team in his high school league for 3 TDs and 165 yards rushing. Cabana is the primary reason Dexter hangs around in a shootout with Saline. Saline has CJ Carr and a coach that left Whitmer to coach Saline that hasn’t lost a conference game in a decade.

Cabana is a burner and that game against Saline was impressive because no one does stuff like that.

That’s the one. The coach of Saline is Joe Palka, former coach of Whitmer HS in Toledo, Ohio.

Took over about a decade ago and hasn’t lost an in conference game since he first took the job. Usually takes Saline on MI HS playoff runs.

He’s good and his Saline teams are good. Not many RBs run like that on Saline.

I follow the conference because my hometown team is in that league, it’s a tough league. Cabana might be a 3 star but he’s playing solid competition.

Saline, Bedford, Monroe, and Ann Arbor Pioneer are usually solid playoff teams every year.

Well, I hope he goes blue. And if it doesn’t work out here, he and Sam McGuffie can form a bobsled team together. Sort of a reverse “Cool Runnings”

This would be a nice pick up. Ran an unofficial 4.34 and has great agility and change of direction. Curious how we would use him, but how we've used Donovan Edwards gives me some optimism

See that's the one thing I didn't notice from the video.
If we get him a crease he can go! I think the difference from a 5* back like Edwards(along with size and excellent catching ability) and a kid like Cabana is that "wiggle". Most of the highlights were him getting an opening and taking advantge of it, which is a HUGE gift to have. However, if blocking is not great can you make something happen on your own. He would be a great pickup for the RB room though and adds another player who can turn on the jets if needed.

Actually was quite the drama until the superintendent reached back to Adrian to find the current coach. Maybe someone here knows more of the story, but the short story in 2019 was they hired a coach who then quit less than two months later. Current coach has done a good job, finally developing some of the kids.

I know no one on here will know who Walter Tullis is, WR with the Packers in 78 and 79. Supposedly ran a 4.27 40. And watching him, it he did look that fast. But he couldn't catch. Passes would go right through his arms. He had 10 catches in 4 years as a pro.

Well, the SEC does not brag about their speed for nothing-it is critical to playing this game well. Good coaches know how to employ speed.

Evidently, recent Dexter football reflects Pinckney football during my years there-and Dexter was not bad. One of my most vivid sports memories took place during a Dexter game. I was a safety, Dexter had a 6' 220 pound RB who came through untouched and it was all up top me as he approached with a full head of steam-and my life flashed before my eyes. He made a cut...slipped and went down. I have never been so grateful.

Best wishes Mr. Cabana...welcome aboard!

He looks quick with good speed on artificial turf, but he gets caught from behind a few times on grass. In the highlights he mostly has large creases to run through, but it doesn’t look like he’s going to break many tackles at the next level. If he sees much playing time at Michigan I bet it will be as a slot guy and kick returner, not as a RB. I’m skeptical he’s really 6’ and 180.
