2020 Spring Game: April 18 at 5pm

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on February 17th, 2020 at 9:47 AM

According to this flyer that was sent out to the parents of the players.

I bet you any money there is no tailgating allowed because Crisler is hosting the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships that day at the same time.

More clueless scheduling as there is pretty much nothing going on the weekend before on April 11.

I don’t know why you ask because I’m not one of the anti-Warde guys on here. He’s a pretty good AD. Just boneheaded scheduling that doesn’t make sense but I’m not sure Warde is scheduling football practice. It’s probably JH.

I didn’t mention him anywhere in the OP.

Questioning the scheduling for logistical reasons does not equal Angry/upset.

Also, I just checked the schedule and the NCAA Championships don’t begin until 8pm. It will all work out, people just might not be able to tailgate (again).

Softball vs osu is at 2pm and should be done by 4 if not earlier, Spring Game is 5-7:50pm and then it’s just a short walk outside the gates to Crisler for M Gym. I’ll have to change clothes a few times but it’ll work.

I have a jersey and hat that I wear specifically for Baseball & Softball and then I have my Football gear. Also I go by the Nike contract so I don’t ever mix Swoosh with Jumpman gear. For example when we do MBB and Hockey doubleheaders I changed out everything in the car completely.

I don’t get it. Why does there need to be anything going on on the 11th? What’s bad about the 18th? It sounds like it just doesn’t work for your schedule so you think it’s dumb.
I don’t see anything that would point to the 11th making more sense for a game other than your preference. The players aren’t going to forget the playbook if there’s a weekend off on the 11th

edit: seems like your complaint is a gymnastics event you don’t plan on attending, the fact you might not be able to tailgate, and that you need to change clothes mid day. Has the golf course ever been open for tailgating a spring game? It’s the end of April shouldn’t they be open for business? If you want to tailgate the spring game I thought you just had to find a house or something to do it at. A friends house, find a place on the street, go to the parking lot, there’s places you can rent. The students will be tailgating whether it’s the 11th or 18th.

Later the better, in my opinion. Too many times Michigan has pretended to want to do a spring game in April, only to change it to a practice/whatever when the weather forecast shows snow/rain/wind/cold/general Michiganess. Michigan invites recruits to the games and they're in damn parkas.

Then you turn on BTN the following week and you see OSU's spring game in tropical Columbus and its 75 and sunny. Same recruits are wearing t-shirts and sunglasses..

For once we've swapped with them (they're 4/11). I don't care about gymnastics, or tailgating. Let's see a real game. Impress the recruits, reinvigorate the fan base.

This.

I have attended many of the spring games/pseudo practices (where there were spring games/pseudo practices) where the weather was, if not brutal, generalizably November-ish with low to mid 40's and a wind chill of 37 seeming the norm.

You still go, of course but why not the following week and 64 degrees, perhaps?

I hope it's at least a legit spring game and not some boring open-to-the-public-practice. I know this program is a vehemently anti-spring game program for whatever reason. It's just annoying, seeing as how almost every other P5 program gets a full-on, legit spring game.

Hard to care anymore... I’ll ruin the end of the book for you. We’ll win 6 inconsequential games that we should, have to fight through 2-3 more to get the win against avg opponents at home. Lose all of our prime time match ups on the road, and then lose our bowl game for a 9-4 or 8-5 season.

Rinse and Repeat.
