I am loving the newfound connection with Paramus Catholic.
Would love to have you go blue, Rashan! Come and play with your old teammate Jabrill!

that shot.
I don't need the calendar, but I'd sure like to see him play for Michigan.
(I know, I know--he's ripping his DL technique. But the way the pic is cropped makes it look like he's posing, yo. I guess that's just how relaxed he is while playing football.)
That's a whole lotta beefcake.

Is now on Michigan's recruiting staff. Definitely a connection. Not to mention the new Paramus coach played under Harbaugh on the 9ers.

To be fair Hoke didnt have any problem getting top recruits to visit. Shit, he didnt really have any problem getting top recruits to commit. There was a time, not to long ago, when we were #1 in the country star-ranking wise for current class of recruits before everything fell apart.
What he trouble doing was keeping them in the fold post committment once they saw the overall quality of coaching on the field.

Hoke had some darn good recruiting classes too. If you look at UM's average star/player it's pretty much Top 10-15 each year for the last 4-5 years. When you look at the recruiting rankings for Big Ten teams over the 4-5 yrs, OSU and UM are 1 and 2...and 3rd place isn't even close to UM or OSU in terms of the number of 4 and 5 star recruits. Hoke and his staff just couldn't develop the players once they go to AA.
I like both of your posts pointing out that Hoke recruited well. That is why I am so adamant that Harbaugh can win ten games out of the gate. He has a lot of players who have been undercoached and had results that are nothing like what they envisioned when they signed their LOI's.
Those players, especially upperclassmen, will do anything Harbaugh tells them they need to do to help them win. They will respond to coaching extremely well and they will play like the top-notch recruits they were out of HS.
Michigan's "climb back to the top" is going to be a lot faster than most people expect.
The star average always looked great, but there's a difference between having that talent spread throughout the roster and having it concentrated at a couple of positions, as Hoke did.
on the roster right now, but that doesn't change the fact that Hoke was a very good recruiter. There were other things behind some departures, aside from QB I'll admit. Thats one I think we all wish he'd have not put all the eggs into one, or two, baskets. Harbaugh seems to be filling those holes quickly though.

I think you're spot on otherwise. Harbaugh inherited a roster with few holes to fill and good depth at most spots.

The star rankings seem to indicate that previous talent was not being developed. Another explanation is that the former staff was not talented at player evaluation, and stocked a stable of over rated players. (I don't think that is true, but I'm not an expert like many on this site).
I don't think anyone can say the cupboard is bare. If, by "climb back to the top" you mean the top of the Big Ten, I agree that it probably won't take long. There's no reason for the team to not be as good as (gag) moo u in the next few years.
But, unitl Michigan has unequivocal pre-NFL talent, beginning at QB, LT, and TB, no one should expect miracles.
With that being said, I'm sure seeing a potential dynasty in the making. This thing will snowball before we know it, and it's going to be a beautiful thing to watch.

I'd like the new normal to be that they commit here, and not just visit here.
March 23rd, 2015 at 11:38 PM ^
Make that commit and stay.

It's nice to have them visiting, it'd be even nicer to get them to commit.

I smell a new catchphrase for the blog!

he would commit until NSD so we have a long wait.

Urban Meyer may have won a national championship but he's never been in a super bowl or NFC title game. I expect Harbaugh to use that angle recruiting kids.

which was on Harbaugh Day, btw...this guy exacted a little revenge on me:
I cannot recommend the experience.
but unfortunately katsup is not allowed under NCAA recruiting rules. Sorry, kid.
....make that a double order of fries.

His film is ridiculous! Come on Harbaugh, show him a good visit!
Steve Lorenz also said there is another "major" recruit possibly visiting this weekend. Steve is supposed to know tomorrow if the visit is taking place.
