That's some boner!

All time

Michigan 75 wins, Minnesota 25 wins, 3 ties

Form a F*cking Wall -- Great Win.  Halloween and we win by goal-line stand.

Since 1968, Michigan has only lost to Minnesota 4 times.

Still can't believe Minnesota gifted us that game. The goalline stand was awesome, but Minnesota should've gotten 1 or 2 more cracks at it if they didn't waste so much time. I'd have been losing my mind if Michigan did that

I literally couldn’t believe what I was watching when they just let the clock keep winding down. He must not have known it was gonna start on the whistle after they reviewed the previous play. Or he did and he forgot

And the Merkle boner cost the New York Giants the 1908 NL pennant. I think his boner was a bigger boner.

Great headline.  Reminds of the Tonight Show bit!

A quick Google search on “funny headlines”:

-Alton attorney accidentally sues himself

-Health Officials: Pools, diarrhea not a good mix

-Clown Commits Fu King Robbery

Same here, though I scream "false advertising!!!" at their claim that you get "5 brimming glasses" of beer from a quart bottle.  32 oz ÷ 5 glasses = 6.4 oz/glass.  When was the last time you drank a 6.4 oz beer?

Don't forget to click WD's Bentley Library link https://digital.bentley.umich.edu/midaily/mdp.39015071756121/185 if you haven't yet done so yet;  it opens up the entire page.

On the bottom right-hand corner of the page is an advertisement for the October issues of The Gargoyle, which is another campus publication.  Among the other features is advertizes is one called "Freshman Beauties".  Would love to see a copy!

Another little one-paragraph insert right in the middle of the page is a notification for freshman basketball tryouts.  I wonder if Coach Howard will run a similar advertisement in the Michigan Daily this fall.

I've never seen a commercial for Goebel's beer!  And it was my dad's and grandfather's favorite beer as I was growing up.  However, as it began getting more difficult to obtain, they changed brands after I moved out (off to the Navy).

When grandfather died, my brother brought a case of Goebels to the funeral to toast the old man with.  I don't think we got through half a can each...  My dad wondered why the hell he ever drank that stuff to begin with.  Man, it was baaddd...  LOL!

Compared to todays craft beer it was really light, both in taste and in cost.  When i was at the U, we’d buy a case of Goebel for $4.95 at the drive thru beer store and put it in an old Pepsi machine...”The Beer Machine” which dispensed long necks for $.10 each.  Still have the machine, runs like it’s new.

Great headline and article.  When reading the text under the "Ohio Retains Top Football Ranking" headline, I saw that Notre Dame defeated the "Iowa Seahawks".  Thinking it may have been a former mascot name of the University of Iowa, I did a quick search and found that a short-lived program by the name of Iowa Pre-Flight (not Iowa) was actually a pretty decent football program in 1942-1944.  Actually played our Michigan Wolverines in September of 1944.  Michigan handed the Seahawks their only loss of the season as Iowa Pre-Flight would finish 10-1 (with victories over Purdue, Minnesota and Iowa) and a final ranking of No. 6 in the AP Poll.  Great to find a little previously unknown nugget of college football history hidden in this post.  Thanks, WD!

I don't know if this was urban legend or if it's true because I never saw the headline. But when I was taking journalism classes at Michigan, some students discussed the Michigan Daily headline from when Michigan beat South Carolina 34-3 in 1985 - "M beats Cocks Blue."
