11/27/10 Denard Returns Punt for TD to Seal the Heisman
I'm just being silly here, but after all of Denard's early Heisman talk and the fact that OSU has horrible coverage teams I think we should put him back there for some returns in the Ohio State game.
And yes, he would of course strike the pose while facing right at the OSU student section.
Glorious!
Someone help me out with the appropriate ND picture. Thanks!

Of course, he is so fast that he actually strikes the pose several times while running down the sideline.

WOW AWESOME

After his Michigan career they should re-name the Heisman trophy after Denard.

I heard they were going to force Reggie Bush to give Denard his, that way he can be like Ron Powlus and win 4

...Denard quadruple majors to earn 4 degrees to save the team from APR penalties.

this is really not so bad. I think if Tressel saw 16 back to take a kick, he would call for a 20 yard pooch into the sideline. He's got some playcalling tendencies that make Carr seem like a freewheeling crazy man.

Yes, it is really so bad.
The OP is proposing that we should put our starting quarterback in the most vulnerable position possible - stationary, looking upward at the ball in the air as two gunners sprint toward him with a full head of steam, preparing to knock the crap out of him once he catches it. Punt returner is the most dangerous position in the game from a health standpoint.
I'll pass.

In this sense, I absolutely agree with you. But when I think about Denard's vision on the field when he runs and (of course) the speed, they are definitely two characteristics you would kill to have with any return man.
But of course, he's the QB and WAY to valuable to even entertain such a scheme.

thinking this has gotten to be a bit much? i'm just as excited as anyone for what he can do but we've had something like 30 posts today discussing every microcosm of a guy who's specifically deferred attention to his teammates.

We could always talk about Cam Gordon, or Gibbons, would that be more suitable??? Just enjoy it, if you dont like it, then why post? Its all in good fun my man, just excited about s really good player that plays for our favorite team. Sorry.

but if you go through the board there's been 50 different posts speculating everything from what color his boxers are to how david brandon would do a fan promotion of "dreads for the first 10,000 fans"... i get the excitement but i also get where it's getting a bit too ahead of ourselves.

We're fanatics, this is what we do. The fact that Denard has deferred attention to his teammates makes him more noteworthy. We're noticing that too: the oline, the receivers, and everyone else on the team has been doing their best to carry their fair share.
That said, did you not watch the last two games? I mean seriously, holy balls. Discussions and excitement about performances like these will not be easily shushed, nor should they be.
Seriously. Holy balls.

yeah... he doesn't want to talk about himself so we have to make up for it, and then some (ok a lot). duhhhhhhh

Just save some of the Kool-Aid for the end of the year (!)

It won't happen. What might happen is a breakaway, go-ahead, third or fourth down sixty yard run.
The best part is that he wouldn't strike the heisman pose in front of the OSU student section. He'd kneel, get up, walk over to his teammates and sheepishly put his arm out and pull his knee up before getting tackled by a sea of maize and blue (and white I guess, since it's an away game).

I believe this is the photo you're referring to:
And after he strikes the pose mid-return, he'll be doing this in the end zone:
