In games of interest, Wisconsin up early 7-0 over Brandon Peters and Illinois; Clemson leading Louisville 3-0; Gamecocks up early on Florida 7-3 and driving; and Iowa 6-0 over Purdue.

Cocks getting it up early, pounding it and driving it until having to withdraw for a FG.  Made it with many inches to spare, though---now up 10-3 over the submissive Gators.

You know, my feeling is Wiscy does look a little flat, but Illinois isn’t a Rutgers style pushover. So many of us were upset over Illinois playing good defense against us, and getting past our defense in that third Q.

They’re playing hard, and doing pretty well against a very good team. I give them credit. I doubt they’ll beat Wiscy, but they’re giving the fans a game.

Watching Peters stand in the pocket and throw lasers makes me sick. That guys has NFL tools and we cast him off because...,we don’t like NFL arms & stature?? WTF. He looks 10x more poised in the face of the same Wisconsin rush that had Shea shitting his pants. That arm can make ALL of the throws that would make best use of our WRs. He’s on an absolute shit team with next to nothing around him so he won’t get the statistics that he might but I feel very comfortable predicting that he will get an NFL opportunity and will stick around the league somewhere. Which of the QBs we put ahead of him do you want to bet has a better career track?

Can he do it on a consistent basis? Shea looks good in spurts too, but he hasn’t done it for an entire game all year. Peters numbers are terrible against legit competition. Gotta see where his numbers are at the end of the game. Either way, Peters didn’t look good here at all after his concussion. Tells me that it has more to do with our Qb development and utilization than individual QBs. Tom Brady would be up and down with us.

Yes, he gets happy feet in the pocket under pressure quite a bit. Peters would not have us any better. In fact, we’d probably be worse. There are reasons why he wasn’t top of the depth chart last year and it ain’t because he’s a great Qb. Guy is 4-9 today and on pace to have his third straight game completing 50% or less.....

Wisconsin is in a fight today.  But rather than focus that IL might be a little better than advertised, let’s focus on Peters’ 3 completions as additional evidence that Michigan sucks.

It was not unlike last weekend with Michigan.  They had just played Iowa in a tough game, had PSU and ND coming up, and got a little lazy.  That said, Michigan was better in the first half against Illinois and had to deal with Illinois running out a QB they didn't have any tape on.  Yeah he was their backup, but you could tell UM didn't know what to expect at times from him and the offensive playcalls.  Peters is a lot of things but you know what an offense with him operates at.

Wisconsin is going to win this game, but Illinois isn't a complete basketcase like Rutgers.  I've been impressed watching them these past couple of weeks; if Lovie stuck around my guess is they'd be decently competitive out west more times than not.

Until the last 3 games of the season as they ascend starting with the conference championship game to the national title game.

This is the beauty and luck of playing in a shitty conference, if indeed, you have an elite coaching staff and players that can raise their game once they play better competition.

U Miami and FSU dominated shit conferences in the 80's and 90's and then early 2000's for Miami again in a shit conference.  They would run the table with uber talented teams, occasionally seeing a rare upset or loss to ND if they were on the schedule, but then play a home game in Florida for the national championship against some team from a much tougher conference.

Clemson is just the new U Miami/ FSU.  Elite talent, low likelihood of regular season upsets against shit competition, and the ability to win the big game / games at the end of the year.

I’ll say this Muschamp has unleashed his inner Rex Grossman even though they haven’t connected.

Let’s hope Shea is taking notes and connects on a few.
