The next best thing to a Michigan win is a O$U loss. Hopefully this trend of #1s losing continues to next week when inactive Oregon moves up.
How'd you get 2,000+ points without knowing dollar sign insertions are taboo around here?
And this picture make me happy.
more and more likely that Boise State will have their shot of going to the national championship. Bama is out last week, tUOS lost tonight, Nebraska got exposed. The only team that I can see jumping over Boise State is Auburn but I don't think that Auburn can beat Bama.
I mean. . .Oregon? They've looked pretty good, and since they beat Stanford, I don't know who else is going to take them down in the Pac-10. . .
since it's a big rivalry game and it's on the road at Corvallis. Too bad that James Rodgers is out for the season. Arizona also have a shot of beating Oregon.
With Florida losing as well I am quite a smilely guy.
...with Wisky bumping off OSU is that they're in the Big Ten. The national media will paint this as another example of, "LOL Big Ten sux!!!"
When the same thing happens in the SEC that same media argues it's an indicator of how tough the ESS-EEE-CEEEEE!!11!1! is.
Well, with Florida dropping out of the top 25, Ark and South Carolina losing they can scream SEC all they want. Boise and Oregon hold their own destinies.
...Boise more or less controls their destiny. FWIW, I don't know that playing cupcakes all year and going undefeated really makes you worthy of a national championship.
If that is not a case for a playoff I would ask you what is?
...that Nevada might be able to bump off Boise. Their offense definitely has the potential to hang with BSU. Boise's D is somewhat better, but I think Nevada's D will play tough since they get Boise at home.
Boise is the perfect case for playing 1 mediocre team and 11 creampuffs!
VT or Oregon State or Nevada?
A football season isn't just about 1 game. BSU has a significant advantage in that most of the teams they play are pretty creampuffy, which means they take less hits, less damage, etc.
As far as VT, so you think James Madison should be in consideration for the BCS title game? VT is mediocre at best this year.
OSU, is WAY overrated. They are currently get trashed by UDub. They are going to be 3-3 after tonight.
And Nevada hasn't played anyone. Cal is aweful this year.
You claim that the season isn't just about one game, yet you use one game to justify your reasoning for VT, OSU and Nevada being poor teams? Just because Team A and Team B both beat Team C, does not mean that Team A and B are equal.
I don't necessarily disagree with your main point, BSU does have an easy schedule, but yout argument is a bit weak.
For VT they really haven't played anyone and did lose to an FCS. In general, people would not consider a team in the ACC who lost to an FCS team, a good team.
OSU, has lost to multiple teams as well, and hasn't looked that good in its wins. Living on the west coast, I've actually caught several of their games, and they just don't look good on either offense or defense.
Nevada, I've only seen them play Cal, but Cal is just not that good and pretty schizophrenic this year. Now Nevada might be decent and give BSU a run for their money, but we'll have to wait and see. I honestly think Nevada might be the best team that BSU plays this year.
Michigan who lost to the FCS team who must not be named in season opener a good team?
No, I would not consider the horror team a good team. The only reason that season wasn't a complete failure was because they beat florida, but that was only because the coaches basically threw away their old playbooks and went to a completely different gameplan.
The horror team certainly had talent, but they did very little with that talent and had fairly bad coaching. Most people didn't consider it a good team and put the blame on the coaching staff, hence they were forced out.
A good team requires talent, skill, experience, and good coaching, any FBS team that looses to an FCS team is obviously severely lacking in at least one of those.
Of course the WAC is not the Big Ten, but who has OSU beaten to earn their #1 spot? They beat an overrated Miami team, and some other teams that Boise State would have rolled as well. If you look at OSU's schedule, there is a pretty good chance that Wisconsin and Iowa are the only teams that end up in the rankings. They lost to Wisconsin, and they could lose to Iowa as well. BSU plays Virginia Tech, Oregon State and Nevada, any of which have the potantial to end up in the top 25. BSU's schedule is not great, but they are beating good teams and killing the lesser competition.
Just for a frame of reference - Wisconsin beat San Jose St. 27-14. Boise State was up 42-0 at the half, at which point they put in all of their backups. The game just ended with a final score of 48-0.
OSU, no one really. They should of never been rated #1, not with they way they were playing.
And for a frame of reference, BSU's claim to fame this season, lost to James Madison. The only other team close to being a big win, is on its way to 3-3 via getting smashed by UDub.
I am not saying that they have a great schedule, but VT has a decent chance of winning out, James Madison notwithstanding. Oregon State is currently ranked, and is only down 7 to Washington, with a lot of time to go. BSU is beating the BCS teams that they have played, and are slaughtering the lesser teams on their schedule. When you watch them play, you see that they are a very complete team. I think they can compete with anybody, which is why I want to see them get their shot.
Of course after I write the above OSU loses in OT to Washington and Nevada is in the process of shitting the bed. I still think Boise State is as good as anybody in this year of mediocrity.
On Wisconsin! Even though this team now scares me, I'm really happy for them. And happier that tOSU has fallen. How does it taste, Buckeyes? LOVE IT!
OSU didn't just lose - they got manhandled by Wisconsin. The final margin of 13 points doesn't begin to describe how they were dominated. The way they played today, OSU could easily lose to Iowa (or to us, if we stop with the stupid mistakes).
In all honesty, I think Boise State is a more complete team than OSU. I know that their competition isn't great, but BSU is a hell of a team.
i love seeing pryor getting sacked and running around hapless looking for a prayer. im telling everyone on here mchigan may be 5-2 but the best is yet to come. we will likely get our 6th win against penn state and this will get the bowl monkey off our back. we put up 500 yards on iowa. this team continues to come together and when the defense comes of age most likely next season when they learn to tackle we will own the big ten. so for all the rich rod haters out there go get some dick in your face from a hermaphrodite with herpes. but seriously i trully want to say we need to look big picture and realize if rich rod goes anywhere the rebuilding process will be insumountable and we will end up like nebraska. rich rod has leverage because of this and david brandon will not be able to make a move if we win 7 or 8 this year. i still see 8-4 and thats huge improvement considering i see this as richs second year because year one shouldnt have counted. GO BLUE!!! THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM AND THE HELL WITH ANYBODY WHO WANTS A CHANGE. SUPPORT THIS TEAM OR GET OFF THE BUS.
Good. There's no "clear" champion yet.
In prior years it seemed Alabama and Texas, or Florida / Oklahoma were on the way to a championship midway throughout the season.
Oregon looks good but has yet to play USC or Oregon State...BSU will likely go undefeated the rest of the way...New blood in the national championship game is a good thing (instead of Alabama AGAIN...or Ohio State AGAIN)
The Mad Hatter is still undefeated.
Nothing takes the fun out of an OSU loss quite like a Michigan loss.
The team that's always #1 to me lost for the 2nd week in a row.
I'm too numb to care about UOS results.
Boise still needs some help. Oklahoma and....Michigan State have somewhat favorable schedules ahead of them. An undefeated BSC conference team will jump them. There are still a number of them left aside from the aforementioned.
Auburn and Oregon can both run the table. THAT would be an epic matchup.
TCU vs BSU in the NC Game.. Go figure.
in Madison is the silver lining to an otherwise depressing Saturday. Sad, angry Buckeyes are a joy to behold. It's kind of like when the Grinch's heart grows three sizes.
Wisconsin has a great record against OSU over the years, especially at home. It is a great bet every year.
