1-7 vs top 10 teams

Get it together. Pathetic considering our level of recruiting.

It's a rebuilding season and the truth is we played a very bad schedule. 0-3 vs .500 teams.

Those games vs Rutgers, Air Force, and Maryland don't develop the team for next season.  We'd have been better off playing next year's brutal schedule this year and losing 5 or 6 games to be ready for a run next season.

2018: @ND, @OSU, @MSU, vs Penn State, and vs Wisky are all games we probably lose this season, but we would have a battle tested group come next year.

For the Money?

Why in Fuck's Sake would Jim Harbaugh allow Amazon Prime to do a series on Michigan football.

This is a young team...but its 3 seasons in to his program and they have accomplished only a bowl win vs. Florida and a win vs. a bad MSU team

That is it.

ENOUGH HOLLYWOOD HYPE HARBAUGH!

He is making this program even more of an underachieving laughing stock than it is.

Why do the Prime series? Michigan High School football is getting worse and we can only pluck so many kids from Ohio.

We need to recruit nationally and all of the “gimmicks” are just part of the competitive edge we need to stay on the radar screens for these top recruits.

Kids now don’t recall the glory days of Michigan football. Tradition and history will only take you so far. If Harbaugh pushes the envelope with unique ideas and stays clean doing it then we pick up some recruits. I’d prefer that vs the SEC bagmen.

Finally, all the talent in the world can only go so far. We need coaching and development. We see the defense respond after losing a ton of talent to the NFL.

We have seen some improvement on Offense but clearly need more. Drevno should be gone next year. Let Frey develop the O line and find a better and more creative O coordinator.

Most of the comments on here are literally unbearable to read. Fuck you guys. Seriously. If Peters doesn't go out and if the TD that was actually a td gets called we have a 50/50 shot at that game. Fuck half of the people on here right now bitchin about Harbaugh. Fuck off.

of the comments, but I also think some people are frustrated at the seeming lack of signature wins for Harbaugh and for the program in general for the last 20 years at least.

I mean, look at your comment..."if Peters doesn't go out, if that TD was called..."

I think a lot of posters feel (maybe wrongly, but still) that Michigan should not need those "ifs" and should be better.

We'll start on November 18, 1997. It's a Tuesday.

This coming Saturday, on the first day of the era of no-signature-wins, we'll beat OSU to finish the regular season undefeated and #1 in the country.

This coming New Years we'll beat WSU to finish off an NC. Damn, why can't this program win a big game?

1998, admittedly disappointing, will still include a win over a 9-0 Wisconsin team that wound up winning the Rose Bowl. We'll win our bowl game too.

In 1999 we'll again beat the eventual Rose Bowl champion, then win the Orange Bowl ourselves. And beat Ohio again.

2000's another disappointing season but there's a win in Columbus and yet another bowl win.

2001 includes handing Illinois their only loss of the season. And another OSU win.

2002 kind of sucked, we lost 14-9 in Columbus to the undefeated national champions.

2003 we beat OSU again, wound up losing the Rose Bowl.

In 2005 we handed Penn State their only loss of the season. In 2006 we gave Wisconsin their only loss of the season.

But where's the "signature win"?

I, for one, thought we exceeded in 2011, and again in 2015. Last year the record might have been about what I expected but the performance level was definitely a pleasant surprise.

For other programs we compare to general expectations, not their own fanbase's delusions. For Michigan we compare to our own expectations. That's the fundamental difference.

Perfectly said.

I dont hear many making excuses. If tehy are, were making excuses for games we should have lost most likely anyway. The fact the overwhelming majority of his loses are vs top 10 teams I think is a good thing. And yes, we should have won more of them and we've had bad bounces but in very few have we not even been compettive or outright better. The wins will come.

It's great to be a supporter and unapologetic Michigan fan, but when you point out the facts that we can't win big games, that Harbaugh has blown it in SEVERAL almost wins, that the ONLY solid win we've had under Harbaugh was Penn State last year, that we are terrible on the road--- these are just facts. It's not whining. It's not being a troll. It's just facing reality. And it doesn't make you any less than a fan.

The systemic problems for us continue and Harbaugh isn't fixing them or certainly isn't fixing them fast enough (or scheming well enough around them in the interim), especially with the resources we have available and the profile this University has.

Well like many posters here I say wait till next year. Depending on how many top 10 teams Michigan plays we will be 1-and  something. Next year will more than likely be a 3 loss season. So yeah, wait till next year.

Cherry picked stats are dumb. In how many of those games was Michigan actually favored, or even within a TD spread?

BREAKING NEWS: Beating Top 10 teams is hard. More at 11.

...5-7 against ALL teams, THAT reaaaaaaaaly sucked.

3-9.....THAT actually happened.

This year was unfun; mostly for the players since they never really got any momentum or confidence rolling.

But they have been through some spineing experiences in the last two years, here's hoping the team uses it next year to be great.

We have road games against Notre Dame, MSU, and Ohio State next year. Easily could lose all three. Unless qb play and offensive line play improves a lot we’re in for another 8-4, 7-5 type year in 2018.

It’s weird that fans ask “where is Harbaugh’s signature win?” Oh, idk. Take your pick: beating the SEC East Champions by 5 TD’s in Jan 2016. Beating the Big Ten champions by 6 TD’s in September 2016. Beating Big Ten West Champ and Top 10 Wisconsin in October 2016. Beating the PAC 12 South Champion Colorado Buffaloes by 3 TD’s in 2016. Has this year been fun? Absolutely not. Have their been great moments including all the above and beating ranked Northwestern and BYU in year one... yes. Has it been fast enough? No. But we have every contributor back next year other than Cole, Hill, Hurst, and McCray. We will be fine.

Beating Colorado at home is not a signature win if you're a top-tier program. Its a decent win. They were a 4 loss team. Northwestern and BYU both proved to be good but not that great in 2015 and those were both home games.

Wisconsin last year was good but that was at home and in a year we we're supposed to contend for the playoffs. It was expected and proved meaningless because Harbaugh fumbles the season away down the stretch.

Florida bowl win is the best I can think of.

Add in losses to unranked Iowa which cost us the season last year and a mediocre MSU team this year and yeah it has been underwhelming so far.

No one takes into consideration that the upperclassmen are hokes guys. Harbaugh and the staff have to adjust to their talent. They are good players but his system isn't on full display yet. Also we were in the game until peters got hurt and the 2 passing Okorn threw on target were dropped then he shit himself again. We had an opportunity until peters went out. Harbaughs recruits are still young. They are getting experience behind the players before him. The juniors are mostly hokes guys. He only has 2 true classes. Think about it we are good with young talent. Only goes up. Peters was still raw he's building for next year. Can't give up just cuz of these struggles. Not like other teams aren't getting better. Remember where things were heading with rich rod and hoke.
