'17-'18 Depth Chart: Version 6 ("No MGoBlue.com Roster Edition")

i'm not following you on this. If you play a single down your RS is gone unless you qualify for a medical RS.

I see you list both McKeon and Eubanks as RS freshmen. I've seen suggestions that both will be granted medical RS but never any mention of what the injury was supposed to be. Given the NCAA's treatment of Jeremy Clark, I'm doubtful.

I've had Jeter at SDE and DT all fall and summer.

I agree with you all.

But then the camp reports came out and said he was working at both DE spots. I'm going off the insider reports - that's all.

Go back and check old depth charts...Jeter was always DT and SDE.

My thought is since he's already close to Charlton's weight, maybe they're okay with letting him get snaps at WDE since he's not going to get as many at SDE.

I agree, but there's literally no information - it would be 100% pure speculation versus insider rumblings and camp news speculation.

I could say right now:

KR:
Kareem Walker
Oliver Martin
O'Maury Samuels
Ambry Thomas
Ty Issac

PR:
Donovan Peoples-Jones
David Long
Oliver Martin

...that is literally based off of the top names that pop in my head. I couldn't tell you if one of those guys other than David Long has been in mix.

As for the hybrid RB/Slot - that was really to get Peppers shown on offense and I just never took it away. I'll remove it next time since it's not interesting.

This is so important, especially PR.  Jabrill had an incredible amount of hidden yardage from his PR duties.  He caught everything and rarely let anything get past him to roll down the field. Returning punts is one of the hardest things to do on a football field, so it is critical to get someone back there that can catch everything and preserve the field position advantage.

No order...
  1. What is going on at the SLOT position?
  2. How much is Onwenu getting pushed or has he re-established himself?
  3. How close is Runyan Jr. to JBB?
  4. What position are the backup LBs actually playing?
  5. Who is on KR and PR?

I think Washington is too low in this depth chart, WOTS is he's been impressing after an impressive spring practice. Coupled with the coaching staff wanting a more from Long/Hill playing through bumps and bruises, I'd definitely put Washington above Ambry Thomas at the very least. Nice post though! And what the hell man how dare you not give us a PR KR depth chart!

Sam was raving about Ambyr's athleticism all last year while he was being recruited and said Michigan had him very very high on their board.  So, this is not surprising to hear.  Not sure what his coverage skills are like at this point, but even though he may be slight of build right now, his tackling can't be any worse than Strib's was.

I also wouldn't sleep on BSJ - I base this on nothing other than seeing him play in the spring game.  While he got beat a few times, he physically looked the part already.  I think he is going to be very good down the road.

What are you talking about?

MGoBlue.com (which I know isn't going to be OFFICIAL) lists Ambry Thomas at 6'0, 170 lbs, and Keith Washington at 6'2, 170 lbs.

My point is even if Washington is closer to 6'1, 170 and Thomas is closer to 5'10, 165...they're not a huge difference between the two of them.

From what I have heard, the current depth chart at Corner would be all slash marks between Long/Hill/Watson/Washington/Thomas, but I have heard that Hill has stepped up in the last week. I would guess top 3 end up as Long, Hill and Washington. I'd guess that Long and Hill start and the Hill bumps inside when Washington comes in. I'd guess that Washington spells Long and Watson, Hill in 2 CB sets. Thomas will be number 5 just because of his strength development, but he is so talented. Just needs bulk.

REMEMBER - just because a guy is listed as a redshirt doesn't mean he won't play. Brian wrote something in the spring about "unburned redshirts."

How well we remember. We've had games in the last several years where the conflagration could be seen for miles.

I was wondering where the roster posts were, so thanks for kicking them off for this season.
