5 more open spots, now that Peace has decommitted.
Figure one spot will (hopefully) go to an outside WR like Stokes or Haulstead.
Another spot - hopefully an offensive lineman.
Another spot - hopefully a cornerback.
That should leave two more spots to give to the best available kids.
There's also the chance we open up another spot by not inviting Criswell back for a 5th year.

Good God, we have a ton of them... Granted, you are lumping in FB-types with them. I wish we could get 1 QB, 3 CBs, and 1 S

We're actually not that loaded at RB beyond 2009. Grady, Minor, and Brown will all be gone. Teric Jones is being recruited to play slot. So that leaves us with Cox, Shaw, Moundros, Toussaint, and Vincent Smith in 2010.

I'm sure we will pick up like 2-4 in the next class it seems RR wants to stock pile rbs.

Yeah, I'm sure it's hard to sell immediate playing time when you have three seniors and a sophomore part-time starter returning. Next year we'll be ready to take on more running backs. I'm excited to see the type of running backs Rodriguez can pull in if there's a clear path to playing time.

Wow, that secondary scares me to no end.

We are 2 safety injuries away from starting a true freshman, and 4 injuries from starting a walk on. Yikes.

1. Washington
2. Stallworth
3. Robinson
4. Peterman
5. Stokes

I refuse to be optimistic on Robinson until after the visit, IF (**IF**) we get rave reviews.
It's still most likely that the kid ends up a Gator.

I think you forgot the man, the myth, the legend George Morales. He is still on scholarship too
January 8th, 2009 at 4:31 PM ^
He is on a year-to-year if I remember correctly. His may not stick.
Also, I guess the Sheridan spot is reserved until we either fill the 85 slots or find another qb?
January 8th, 2009 at 4:46 PM ^
Morales gets his scholie if there are leftovers.
He's first in line, but it is not ensured.

I hope one of those last five spots goes to another QB, even if he isn't a stud.

Aren't all scholarships year to year?
January 8th, 2009 at 5:16 PM ^
Yes.

Just found out from my friend back in the hometown that Micah got an offer to play QB from UM. He's 6'0" 175lbs and runs a 4.45. He did everything for the Redmen this past year. My dad who watched several games says he's the best he's ever seen come out of our school. Supposedly this isn't a full ride, but a partial. Toledo wants him bad and has offered a full ride. It's down to those 2. I thought that would me he'd take Toledo but according to his family, he wants to play in the Big 10. His brother Marcus Hyde plays Safety for MSU. Marcus had a pick against us in their game against us this year. I guess we'll wait and see. I'd think he'd be better on defense than offense due to his size, but maybe Barwis bulks him up if he comes here. Didn't know they didn't give full scholarships in football, but that is what I was told???

There is no such thing as a partial scholarship in D1 college football. It's all or nothing.
Hyde's name has come up but neither premium site has confirmed an offer. Supposedly, Hyde's grades are an issue.

will be the best back in the big 10 next year.
